We are now seeking an experienced Lawyer to join our in-house team on a full-time permanent basis

 

 

About the Opportunity

 

As Legal Counsel, M&A and Corporate, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting Nutrien’s Corporate Development and Strategy group on mergers, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives. You’ll also partner with our Downstream Operations Australia Team, providing commercially focused legal advice on a wide range of matters—from complex commercial contracts to supply chain, logistics, procurement, and sustainability.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Advise senior management on legal issues arising in complex transactions, including transaction structures, regulatory and corporate/commercial considerations.
  • Advise on anti-trust (competition law) matters arising in connection with transactions and operations.
  • Lead and coordinate legal due diligence, draft and negotiate agreements, and identify legal, regulatory, and compliance risks.
  • Provide practical, solutions-focused advice on supply chain, operations, and commercial matters.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, collaborating to deliver positive outcomes.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and legal developments, delivering training and guidance to support best practices.
  • As part of Nutrien’s global Legal team, participate in and lead other corporate legal work as required.
  • Manage and direct external counsel as needed.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Approx. 8–10 years post-admission experience, qualified to practice as a solicitor in Victoria with a current Legal Practicing Certificate.
  • Experience in a leading law firm or in-house team, with a focus on corporate/commercial law and exposure to Mergers and Acquisitions.
  • Strong business acumen, sound judgment, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic mindset, keen analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a solid work ethic.
  • Business, tax, or financial acumen is an asset.
