We’re now seeking a strategic and highly influential Government & Industry Affairs leader to drive our policy agenda and strengthen our voice across Australia.

 

 

What You'll Do:

In this high-impact, senior advisory role you’ll shape how Nutrien engages with government, industry bodies, and key stakeholders across Australia.

 

Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Government & Industry Affairs located in Canada, you’ll operate at the intersection of policy, strategy, and commercial outcomes, advising senior leadership and representing one of the most important players in Australian agriculture.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and lead the Government Affairs strategy for Australia aligned to global priorities
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with Federal, State and local government stakeholders
  • Monitor, analyse and influence policy developments impacting agriculture, rural markets and supply chains
  • Represent Nutrien in consultations, submissions and advocacy initiatives
  • Position the organisation as a credible and trusted voice in the Australian agriculture industry
  • Provide strategic advice to leadership on regulatory and political risks and opportunities
  • Lead engagement with key Australian industry bodies, associations and external partners across the agriculture sector
  • Influence and collaborate across a global matrix environment, aligning local priorities with global strategy
  • Identify and manage reputational risks in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Provide insights on external trends, policy developments and stakeholder sentiment impacting the business
  • Translate policy and regulatory insights into clear business implications and actions

 

What You'll Bring:

  • 10+ years’ experience in public policy work, government affairs, or similar field
  • Demonstrated experience with a wide range of agriculture and food supply chain stakeholders, policies and processes
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with elected officials and partners
  • Ability to interface effectively with government officials, special interest groups, employees and community partners
  • Comprehensive understanding of Australia’s policy development and implementation processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Business, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Commercial acumen with a genuine connection to the agriculture sector
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and analytical skills
  • A proactive, self-driven approach with the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel
