Discover more about nitrogen at Nutrien! This is an open posting for Engineering students interested in internship positions at our Borger, Texas facility. This is a temporary, full-time, hourly paid position open to current students who will be returning to their studies once this work term is complete. Work will be both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Outside the office, standard work wear will consist of hard hats, safety boots, safety glasses and ear plugs, with other items as needed; these items will be provided.

 

Location: Borger, Texas (This position is not available for remote work)

Terms: Summer 2026 (Dates can be adjusted base on college schedule)

 

What you will do:

  • Assist the site with various duties, including:
    • Project work.
    • Ensures all work is done in a safe manner consistent with company, local, state, federal and health, safety and environmental regulations and procedures.
    • Aids in providing engineering support for equipment optimization and degradation study efforts.
    • Contributes to computer models to predict effect on equipment.
    • Acquires the ability to provide technical support in the design, specification, selection, and operation of equipment.
    • Evaluates equipment performance, under the guidance of a more experienced engineer, by collecting and analyzing data and other information and makes recommendations to improve overall reliability and product quality.
    • Supports a wide variety of complex engineering assignments with appropriate direction, including investigation of problems or opportunities, preparation of design and specifications and performance measurement of projects via economic evaluations.
    • Aids in support to evaluate the production unit to discover equipment inefficiencies and potential design problems, safety hazards, and potential environmental risks and recommends courses of action.
    • Gains knowledge of day-to-day operations of production unit and keeps informed of operational abnormalities and upsets.  Is involved in production unit problem resolution and repairs.

 

What you will bring:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent related program with a graduation date of August 2026 or later.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to work at heights, outdoors, and around potentially hazardous chemicals.
  • Must be able to hear and understand audible alarms, changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communications.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft’s Office Suite.
