In Trinidad & Tobago, we operate one of the world's largest nitrogen complexes with 4 ammonia plants and 1 urea plant on 165 acres of Trinidad's sheltered west coast.
What you will do:
- Ensure self and team embodies Nutrien’s Culture of Care for safety, health, and environment, engaging in programs and practices from our action plan, The Nutrien Way.
- Interface with stakeholders and project teams for successful project development, execution, and completion.
- Provide disciplined engineering knowledge, plant, and project management experience throughout the project life cycle (pre-project & project delivery process) to:
- justify the need, problem, or opportunity as a valid project idea based on business value and risks.
- define the project objectives and ensure agreement on which options to pursue.
- develop alternative options, each with cost, benefits, and risks.
- complete basic engineering and front-end engineering design (FEED), with deliverables that include all process safety information (PSI), authority to source (ATS) and other tender/procurement packages, preliminary execution plans, cost estimates, schedules, etc., as governed by the Stage Gate checklist.
- complete detailed engineering, with deliverables that include execution contract award, detailed execution plans, pre-execution job hazard analyses (JHA), safe work plans & risk assessments, and integrated schedules.
- develop cost estimates, funding submissions, execution plans and execution scope packages for projects in execution
- complete tender evaluations and prepare tender recommendations for execution services
- prepare, maintain and communicate Projects Risks and Lessons Learnt to all relevant stakeholders during the project life cycle
- prepare and communicate post-project evaluations including contractor evaluations on completion of projects
- Ensure work is executed safely, within budget, on schedule, achieving the business objectives and continuously striving for continuous improvement.
- Work and collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams involving employees, contractors and engineering firms for the successful implementation of projects.
- Manage all required project documentation throughout the project life cycle and ensures compliance with Nutrien’s Capital Governance policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all the steps of the Capital Change Management Workflow are adhered to during capital project development and execution.
- Support the execution of the site’s Capital Portfolio and Capital Expenditure programs.
- Support the application of the site’s Reliability & PSM programs, inclusive of Bad Actors, End Of Life, Root Cause Analysis, Operational Risk Management, Process Hazard Analysis, Management of Change, and TapRoot Investigations.
- Support the technical decision-making process for asset failures, providing subject matter expertise in the troubleshooting, emergency repair & maintenance of critical equipment.
- Provide monthly capital expenditure reports, spend analysis, forecast reports, project update reports as well as other reports required by either site management or the central capital group to evaluate the performance of the capital program.
- Provide expertise in the design, selection and specification of new mechanical equipment or systems.
- Provide mentorship to fellow engineers and project team members, as required.
What you will bring:
- Undergraduate degree - Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university.
- Minimum 10 years’ working experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the Energy Industry or other heavy industry.
- Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Project Management skills.
- Relevant certifications, registrations, and licenses will be considered an asset.
