This position reports to the SVP, North American Retail.

 

What You'll Do:

 

  • Region/Division alignment with North American Retail (NAR) initiatives
    • Partner with Region/Division teams to cascade and provide direction on NAR-wide initiatives
    • Manage overall operational processes within NAR network to drive process efficiency and profitability
    • Provide support to SHE teams on all NAR-wide safety initiatives
    • Work directly with key back office teams to drive alignment and field support for key projects
  • Capital Management
    • Partner with Director, Downstream Capital on NAR capital projects and directives ensuring NAR alignment with Nutrien-wide capital governance
      • Represent NAR as part of the five-year planning process
    • Partner with Region Managers and Division teams to establish support and justification for large capital requests prior to submission to Capital team
      • Work with Region Finance teams on capital projects requiring additional financial analysis, DCFs and other supporting information
    • Execute NAR’s annual and long term (5-7 year) capital planning process through partnership with Region Operations Managers and Region/Division teams
      • Ensure consistency of requests through use of tools established by the Capital teams
      • Establish NAR-wide project pipeline for long term capital budgeting
      • Ensure asset standards set by Capital Team(s) are maintained by NAR network
    • Work directly with Fleet leadership teams on NAR-wide fleet initiatives, planning processes and project execution
    • Support One Nutrien initiatives through evaluation and optimization of NAR network and assets
      • Partner with Business Optimization team to identify correct placement, management and oversight assets to support both NAS and overall Nutrien objectives
  • Expense Management/Reduction
    • Creation/communication/execution of expense reduction goals and initiatives
    • Monthly review of field expenses with Finance teams to ensure goals are being met
    • Optimization of NAR inventory positions through partnership with Warehousing, Supply Chain, Procurement and Finance teams
  • Region Operations Team
    • Support Region Managers with creation of Region Operations Manager roles to ensure consistency in hiring, expectations and objectives
    • Partner with and provide direction to Region Operations Managers to align goals, processes and initiatives across NAR

 

What You'll Bring:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field required; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within agriculture, retail operations, supply chain, manufacturing, distribution, or related industries
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-location operations across large geographic regions
  • Proven track record managing capital planning processes, large-scale infrastructure investments, and asset optimization initiatives
  • Experience working closely with finance teams on business case development, capital justification, ROI analysis, and DCF modeling
  • Strong understanding of operational excellence principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and process optimization
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing without direct authority in a matrixed organization
  • Knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements within agriculture, retail, logistics, distribution, or industrial operations
  • Experience supporting large-scale organizational transformation, integration, or network optimization initiatives preferred
  • Strategic thinker capable of translating long-term vision into executable operational plans
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage field teams, executive leadership, and corporate functions
  • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability and execution across diverse teams
  • Data-driven decision maker with strong analytical and financial capabilities
  • Collaborative leader who builds alignment across operations, finance, capital, procurement, supply chain, fleet, and safety functions
  • Ability to prioritize competing initiatives while maintaining focus on safety, customer service, and profitability

 

Compensation & Benefits: 

 

The salary range for this role in Deerfield, IL, is $169,100 - $265,650. While we provide this range as general guidance, several factors are taken into consideration when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, candidate skill set, experience and training, licensure and certifications, work location, and other business and organizational needs. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan and long-term incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our program(s) where discretionary pay out of awards is reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.  Details will be discussed through the application process.
