Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, Projects, the Project Engineer is responsible for the successful execution of capital and non-routine projects. This includes ensuring the work is carried out safely, on schedule, within budget, and is technically sound and of the required quality. The Project Engineer is responsible for managing multi-disciplinary projects from initial project development through project execution, turnover, and closeout. The Project Engineer may manage projects of various disciplines; however, this position will have a larger emphasis on Electrical and Instrumentation projects.

This position is located at Nutrien's Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta site and is not available for remote work.

What You'll Do:
Â
- Provide preliminary development of new projects.
- Complete all documentation required for project progression and reference.
- Coordinate colleagues from various internal departments to complete, review, and accept project deliverables.Â
- Coordinate external resources such as engineering consultants and construction contractors to complete project deliverables safely, of the right quality, on time, and on budget.
- Review and authenticate site engineering drawings/diagrams such as single line diagrams, area classification drawings, and control logic documentation.
What You'll Bring:

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
- P.Eng. registration with APEGA (or eligibility to obtain registration) is required.
- PMP certification is considered an asset.
- 8+ years working in an industrial plant.
- 5+ years project management experience.
- Detailed working knowledge of industrial electrical motors and power systems including transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, cabling, and associated components per industry standards such as IEEE, CSA, and API.
- Strong expertise in industrial automation, control systems, and networking design including Safety Lifecycle, SIS, and Functional Safety per industry standards such as ISA, IEC, and API.
- Skilled in preparing budgets, schedules and resource allocation plans for multi-discipline projects.
- Experience managing contractors including engineering consultants and construction contractors.
- Capable of collaborating with multiple stakeholders to progress project work.
- Familiarity with project management tools including SAP, Planisware, Primavera, and MS Office is an asset.
