What You'll Do:

 

Reporting to the Manager, SHE&S, Ft. Saskatchewan, the Scalehouse & Security Operations Clerk is responsible for coordinating truck traffic, supporting site access control and security operations at the facility. This role combines scalehouse logistics coordination with front-line security responsibilities, ensuring safe, efficient material movement and controlled site access in a 24/7 industrial environment. The position plays a key role in maintaining operational flow, regulatory compliance, and emergency response readiness.

 

    • Coordinate Scalehouse & Logistics Operations:
      • Process inbound and outbound truck traffic (~30,000 trucks/year), weigh trucks, verify shipment documentation to meet Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) compliance, and manage truck scheduling systems.
    • Maintain Operational Flow & Compliance:
      • Enter shipping/receiving data into SAP, Excel, and other systems; support rail logistics documentation during off-hours; keep accurate records for audit requirements.
    • Control Site Security & Access:
      • Monitor personnel, vehicle, and material access; conduct CCTV surveillance and site patrols; respond to alarms; enforce site protocols; manage front-line communications.
    • Support Emergency Response:
      • Respond to on-site emergencies, activate emergency notifications, conduct system checks, provide first aid/CPR, and report safety hazards.
    • Provide Administrative & Operational Support:
      • Maintain files and logs, assist in training temporary staff, support site programs such as orientation and access badging, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
    • Operate with Independence:
      • Make real-time decisions in a fast-paced 24/7 environment, prioritizing safety, compliance, and operational efficiency within Nutrien policies and TDG/WHMIS frameworks.
    • Collaborate Across Teams:
      • Work closely with Operations, Load Out, and all site personnel to coordinate shipments, manage truck flow, and oversee secure access points.

What You'll Bring:

 

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 1+ year in logistics, administration, security, or industrial operations.
  • Proficiency with computers (MS Office and email; SAP experience is an asset)
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Security Service Worker License (Alberta or equivalent)
  • WHMIS; TDG; First Aid/CPR.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in challenging environments
  • Sound decision-making and situational awareness
  • High diligence and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Professional, calm response to emergencies.
  • Comfortable with 24/7 operations, 12-hour rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays)
  • Able to perform in both office and field environments; maintain concentration across simultaneous logistics, safety, and security priorities.
