The Training Specialist is responsible for the coordination of various training functions including but not limited to: training needs analysis, developing/designing training programs, delivering training programs, coaching, mentoring, evaluating, monitoring, and sustaining employee performance and training results at a high level. The Training Specialist will play a critical role concerning the operational training and organizational leadership development of supervisors which will assist them in developing wage employees to establish competency levels in their specific area of the operation. The Training Specialist is responsible for the coordination of various training functions including but not limited to: training needs analysis, developing/designing training programs, delivering training programs, coaching, mentoring, evaluating, monitoring, and sustaining employee performance and training results at a high level. The Training Specialist will play a critical role concerning the operational training and organizational leadership development of supervisors which will assist them in developing wage employees to establish competency levels in their specific area of the operation.

The Training Specialist will work in the following areas, with duties including but not limited to:
- Developing, in collaboration with Management and the Training Manager, a formalized approach to observing, evaluating, and coaching supervisors and superintendents in the concepts of leadership, mentoring, and organizational development concepts supported by the system to manage (STM).
- Developing a comprehensive listing which includes reviewing each job classification to identify the specific tasks which should be formally addressed in the training programs to support operational goals.
- Reviewing critical task procedures, hazard analysis, and inspection reports to ensure that any relevant information coming out of these reviews/reports is integrated into the training module. (where applicable)
- Staying current with regards to any process changes, design modifications, work methods, etc. Such changes must be reflected in the necessary training programs and affected employees must receive the necessary updated and appropriate training.
- Reviewing, in a timely manner, SOP’s, accident/incident reports, Key Procedure Audits, etc. to further identify any additional training requirements/procedures which may need to be introduced into existing training programs.
- Keeping training evergreen by staying abreast of the latest changes to regulations, codes, standards, and company policies to determine if any additional training is necessary.
Developing/ Designing Training Programs:
- Evaluating existing and potential training programs for operations and maintenance.
- Developing designated and appropriate training programs for both hourly and salaried employees.
- Developing and/or reviewing training programs for all equipment operators.
- Developing appropriate training plans for all employees and providing the necessary guidance to management to ensure that said training is achieved and sustained.
Delivering Training Programs:
- Providing the necessary coaching and guidance to line supervision (“train the trainer”) with the goal of improving the quality and effectiveness of training programs for both hourly and salaried employees. This includes both “in-the-classroom” (theory) and “on-the-job” (application) training and demonstration
- Delivering technical, tactical, and regulatory training to both hourly and salaried employees
- Training/Instructing, and coaching/mentoring new employees as well as incumbent employees according to the safest and most efficient methods of performing their assignments. (best practice)
- Instructing and enforcing safe methods of doing all job tasks
- Observing employee competency in pre-work inspections, operating functions, safe working techniques, and practical skills
- Providing/facilitating hands-on training and, coaching and mentoring for new employees so they can perform various job functions safely and efficiently
- Identifying gaps where additional training/follow up is required or needed for improvement
- Evaluating the quality of training being delivered with recommendations for improvements (cross training
- Verifying employee competency concerning knowledge, safe operating procedures, and practical skills. (classroom and hands on application)

What You'll Bring:
Â
- Minimum of three (3) years of field experience in a mining operation
- Demonstrated ability to effectively present both existing and new training materials to employees, in classroom settings as well as on-the-job environments.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email applications, and other relevant computer software and tools.
