Reporting to the Superintendent, Process Engineering the Supervisor, Process Control is responsible for leading the Process Control functions at Redwater Nitrogen Operations. This includes direct leadership and technical development of Process Control Systems Analysts, Process Control Engineers and Specialists.  The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining and driving key process control items including long term maintenance of control strategies, DCS, OTS; control system integrity and lifecycle; cybersecurity site compliance and capital project related support.  

 

What You'll Do:

 

  • Supervise, mentor, and technically develop process control engineers, specialists, and contractors
  • Set work priorities balancing operational support, project work, and continuous improvemen
  • Ensure team partners with Operations, Maintenance, and Process Engineering to troubleshoot control issues and translate operational challenges and process improvements into effective control solutions
  • Ensure integrity, reliability, and availability of DCS, OTS, and related control systems. Manage DCS and OTS system lifecycle activities. Liaise with Honeywell for system support, Service Contract (SESP), Service Requests, and lifecycle planning
  • Lead the design, implementation, and long‑term maintenance of regulatory and advanced control strategies (PID, APC, DCS logic and Automated procedures).  Standardize control philosophies, configuration practices, and documentation. Lead alarm management and control system performance programs
  • Support onboarding, training, and competency development in: Honeywell control systems, alarm management, control theory, cybersecurity and site standards
  • Lead initiatives and collaboration with OT/Cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with standards, automation scope for capital projects and plant modifications, controls system design packages, FAT/SATs, and commissioning plans
  • Participate in MOCs, PSSRs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, and incident investigations.  Support audits and ensure corrective actions are completed

What You'll Bring:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical or Control System Engineering
    • Registered or be eligible for immediate registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer
    • 12+ years of hands-on experience in process control and industrial automation
    • 2+ years of technical leadership or supervisory experience preferred
    • Ability to work in an active process plant is required
    • Strategic leadership and personnel management capabilities
    • High technical competency and engagement within the process controls team. Coaching and team development mindset
    • Demonstrated hands-on expertise in Honeywell DCS configuration (Experion and TPS), control strategy development, and troubleshooting
    • Strong working knowledge of control theory, instrumentation, and industrial networking
    • Ability to balance operational support with long‑term improvement initiatives
    • Experience in alarm management and control performance monitoring
    • Must be motivated and able to work in a team environment, exhibit strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, and have sound written
