What You'll Do:
- Serve as the Nutrien Ag Solutions (NAS) primary contact for regulatory agencies (FMCSA/PHMSA/DOT, etc.).
- Provide regulatory guidance for all DOT road transportation-related matters (NAS and NAS customers).
- Conduct in-field training on regulatory matters that affect all NAS types of transportation.
- Deliver immediate assistance to requests received through email/NAS Internal Incident Reporting Team call center.
- Provide SME (Subject Matter Expert) input in the creation of transportation-related policies and procedures at the Business Unit and Operations levels.
- Maintain and renew all DOT and state Hazardous Materials registrations required for NAS US transport.
- Monitor inventory accuracy of NAS Ag Restricted CDL’s and assist in conducting appropriate testing based on seasonal needs.
- Monitor FMCSA data for accuracy and impact to NAS operating authority.
- Contest FMCSA SMS violations believed to lack sufficient supporting evidence or regulatory basis.
- Maintain the required FMCSA Accident Register and all supporting documents through electronic files and/or the internal ETQ reporting system.
- Prepare monthly reports showing NAS performance as identified in the Safety Measurement System/CSA within each basic measurement category.
- In conjunction with HR, prepare and distribute roadside inspection violations that violate the NAS CMV Driver & Vehicle policy and maintain documents supporting appropriate disciplinary action.
- Provide SME input and develop/review/update training materials to support NAS transportation efforts across the US.
- Serve as regulatory guidance to internal shipping document departments to ensure Safety Data Sheet proper shipping names are accurate for all NAS Bills of Lading.
- Monitor regulatory changes and Notices of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) for NAS business impact.
- Identify operational changes required for compliance.
- Prepare and submit responses to NPRM to support ag retail.
- Communicate to Retail BU on expected compliance monetary impact and required measures for implementation.
- Conduct DOT compliance audits where roadside violations indicate concerns with branch/division/region compliance.
- Serve as SME to the NAS audit team in reviewing Commercial Motor Vehicle audit questions during annual update periods.
- Assist in training all new branch employees on DOT responsibilities, including Drug & Alcohol testing requirements, CDL Driver Qualification file completion, FMCSA Clearinghouse registration and access, Hours of Service logging, and HazMat transportation placarding using HazMat Enforcer software.
- Provide support to all US Retail branches in conducting NAS transportation-related activities within regulatory requirements and in the safest manner possible.
What You'll Bring:
- High school diploma required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety or professional transportation certifications preferred (applicants hired will be expected to obtain a professional certification in Transportation Safety/Supervision).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a bonus.
- 5-years work experience in transportation regulatory enforcement or commercial transportation management.
- Ability to work independently adhering to self-regulated travel schedule that can fluctuate with ag retail planting seasons.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Excel.
- Ability to travel up to 65% of the time with overnight stays required.
- Capable of working outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
- Ability to operate in a drug free workplace and possess a valid US driver’s license.
Compensation & Benefits:
The salary range for this role, in California and Colorado, is between $87,000 - $149,100, and in Nevada, is between $78,900 - $135,200. While we provide this range as general guidance, several factors are taken into consideration when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, candidate skill set, experience and training, licensure and certifications, work location, and other business and organizational needs. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our program(s) where discretionary pay out of awards is reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.
