This position is located at the Nutrien Allan Potash site.
This person is responsible for:
The candidate will primarily support the daily requirements of procurement Source to Contract and Procure to Pay processes – from sourcing through purchase order and invoice processing, managing local and certain regional category procurement initiatives, maintaining key local supplier relationships, and supporting site-level strategic efforts as the Procurement business partner to the Maintenance, Operations, Capital and Engineering teams.
The Advisor, Procurement will lead development and execution of aligned sourcing strategies and work plans supporting operational projects while collaborating with Nutrien’s internal customers as a Procurement business partner. Further, the Advisor will support site-level category strategy execution on expenditures and support and manage external supplier relationships.
What you will do:
- Directly support and work with Site Procurement, Capital and Category Management team members executing various operational requirements for the Potash Business Unit, such as optimization through systemization and automation of inventory, and utilization of enabled systems (Ariba).
- Facilitate and support end users’ needs for sourcing goods and services, including providing appropriate and timely input to planning of operational needs; leading RFx processes including developing high-quality scopes of work, evaluating bids, negotiation preparation and execution, completing and implementing contracts which deliver best value to our internal customers.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the best value for Nutrien is realized, balancing safety, quality, schedule, and costs.
- Maintain relationships with key suppliers and service providers and be a champion of Nutrien’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion efforts.
- Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to procurement team members to support a healthy, values-based approach. Engaging in a positive, collaborative and customer focused manner to support the Nutrien team on the key deliverables for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance to company policies, procedures and best practices.
- Provide leadership and critical thinking support on project and cross functional teams as required.
- Partner with subject matter experts to source suppliers for goods and services to achieve the best overall value.
- Become familiar with and stay attuned to the established and continually improving procurement processes and provide assessment and input to ensure policies and procedures.
- Solve procurement process problems across areas of category responsibility requiring critical thinking beyond specified process guidelines.
- Manage supplier relationships and metrics, from initial engagement strategy development through contract close-out.
- Support the Potash Business Unit strategies, ensuring safe, reliable production.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
- 3+ years’ relevant experience and understanding in supply chain management - strategic sourcing, inventory management, procurement and contract management.
- The incumbent should demonstrate a thorough understanding of the potash mining industry would be considered an asset.
- Experience in ARIBA, Oracle, SAP or equivalent considered an asset.
- Familiarity with ISNetworld or other supplier qualification tools/methodologies.
- Appropriate professional accreditation (e.g., SCMP or similar) would be beneficial.
- Motivated, high-energy and self-starter business mindset with excellent facilitation, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships within our supply chain, internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with comfort working cross-functionally to gather information and resolve conflicts.
- Proficiency in legal and commercial contract negotiations involving multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize work in a very dynamic environment.
- Strategic sourcing, project management and work scope development and execution experience.
- Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other MS Office applications.
- High degree of ethics, discretion, honesty, fairness, and sound business practices to secure and maintain Nutrien’s reputation in the market.
- Practical experience with enterprise asset management (maintenance, procurement, inventory management), spend management (e.g., Ariba, Analysis & Reports) and enterprise resource planning systems and tools (SAP/Oracle) considered an asset.
