This position will report directly to the Mill Operations Superintendent.
What You'll Do:
- Plan and co-ordinate the activities within the Metallurgical Department & Lab.
- Lead reporting of daily plant metallurgical performance, including recovery, production reporting, process problems, etc.
- Forecast annual operating budgets for the Milling process.
- Provide technical assistance to the Mill Operations, Maintenance & Engineering departments.
- Provide direction and co-manage with other site groups, railcar automation loading, the PI data information system and the RT Duet downtime tracking system.
- Keep abreast of new developments in process control equipment, techniques and process reagents, to allow use of the latest state of the art technology.
- Ensure the analysis of all products loaded to verify product quality is acceptable.
- Investigate and report on all product quality complaints as well as recommend and initiate changes to correct source of quality problems.
- Participate in the preparation of the mill capital budget.
- Prepare project expenditure requests and review and approve engineered modifications.
- Recommend the alteration or modification to existing systems, provides technical advice to personnel for improving maintenance and operating efficiency.
- Provide process engineering support to the Engineering Department on applicable Capital projects.
- Improve Mill Operations Department systems and equipment by studying performance results, identifying, recommending, and implementing improvement opportunity for safety, environmental and efficiency opportunities.
- Assist with site team to focus and improve Operational Key Performance Indicators such as mill recovery, grade optimization, product quality, mill operational and railcar loading efficiencies, specific projects among others.
What You'll Bring:
- Degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical Engineering with consideration of other disciplines based upon work experience.
- Must have or be eligible for registration as a P. Eng with APEGS.
- Safety commitment.
- Ability to communicate effectively for receiving input, listen to suggestions.
- Ability to engage and build consensus amongst operations, maintenance, and engineering groups to generate optimum results.
- Skill set to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a timely manner.
- Good working knowledge of the operational and maintenance processes and systems of a conventional potash mill and loadout operations.
