This position reports to the Chief Mine Maintenance Engineer.  

 

What You'll Do:

 

  • Provide technical expertise relating to mechanical engineering on both maintenance and projects throughout the mine
  • Provide professional guidance to a collaborative team of other mechanical engineers and technologists working towards shared department goals
  • Support the design and execution of mechanical engineering practices in the mine, including machine design and selection, maintain structural integrity of mine assets, troubleshooting of mechanical systems, engineering document management, and change management processes
  • Oversee mechanical and structural process safety and integrity management programs
  • Drive excellence in safe engineering practices by furthering project quality and thoroughness

What You'll Bring:

 

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering 
  • Registered as a professional engineer or eligible for registration with APEGS to work towards a P. Eng designation
  • 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in the mining industry
  • Proven leadership skills and Supervisory experience would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety 
  • Strong knowledge of varied electrical equipment and technical advances in the field
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical codes and technical schematics
  • Operations and Maintenance technical assistance
  • Maintenance and design of modern control systems and related IT infrastructure
  • Engineering, maintenance, project, and/or operations experience at an operating facility or heavy industrial site is considered an asset
