The Mine Engineer - Mine Planning reports directly to the Sr. Mine Geologist.
What You'll Do:
- Collaborate with mine planning personnel to lead the development and execution of long and short range mine plans.
- Track execution of the Mine Plan(s) and report on variances, risks, and opportunities to Sr. Mine Leaders.
- Lead planning and project coordination meetings.
- Work with other technical staff to develop ground support designs, ventilation designs, and mining layouts.
- Perform field inspections to assess ground conditions and ventilation controls. This includes enforcing Nutrien standards and procedures, and taking action to correct any deficiencies identified.
- Provide technical support to other mine departments and project teams.
- Be a safety leader and work closely within a collaborative team environment.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor of Science in Mining or Geological Engineering.
- Must be registered (or eligible for registration) as a Professional with the Association of Professional Engineers & Geologists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in an underground mining environment.
- A strong understanding of mining rock mechanics, ground control, and mine ventilation.
- Previous experience in mine planning and mine planning software. Deswik experience would be an asset.
- Commitment to safety.
- Capable and willing to work underground.
- Knowledge of Saskatchewan potash mining methods.
- Leadership skills, including experience directly leading people or teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
