The Mine Engineer - Mine Planning reports directly to the Sr. Mine Geologist.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with mine planning personnel to lead the development and execution of long and short range mine plans.
  • Track execution of the Mine Plan(s) and report on variances, risks, and opportunities to Sr. Mine Leaders.
  • Lead planning and project coordination meetings.
  • Work with other technical staff to develop ground support designs, ventilation designs, and mining layouts.
  • Perform field inspections to assess ground conditions and ventilation controls.  This includes enforcing Nutrien standards and procedures, and taking action to correct any deficiencies identified.
  • Provide technical support to other mine departments and project teams.
  • Be a safety leader and work closely within a collaborative team environment.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mining or Geological Engineering.
  • Must be registered (or eligible for registration) as a Professional with the Association of Professional Engineers & Geologists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in an underground mining environment.
  • A strong understanding of mining rock mechanics, ground control, and mine ventilation.
  • Previous experience in mine planning and mine planning software.  Deswik experience would be an asset.
  • Commitment to safety.
  • Capable and willing to work underground.
  • Knowledge of Saskatchewan potash mining methods.
  • Leadership skills, including experience directly leading people or teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
