Senior Mine Engineer

This position is located at the Nutrien Allan Potash site.

The Sr. Mine Engineer reports directly to the Chief Mine Engineer.

What you will do:

• This position will have a focus on mine ventilation.  You will act as the subject matter lead for projects involving the mine ventilation system and its maintenance/expansion
• Develop ventilation designs, ground support designs, and mining layouts
• Act as Mine Engineering department representative on multidisciplinary project teams.  Responsibilities will include: development of project scope and schedule, performing progress inspections and reporting on variance, ensuring geotechnical, ventilation, and surveying needs are identified and incorporated within projects
• Lead underground mining projects from inception through to completion
• Perform field inspections to assess ventilation controls and ground conditions.  This includes enforcing Nutrien standards and procedures, and taking action to correct any deficiencies identified
• Install instrumentation to collect ventilation data.  Interpret data and report on findings and recommendations
• Provide technical support to mine operations
• Collaborate with mine planning personnel to develop and execute long and short range mine plans
• Be a safety leader and work closely within a collaborative team environment
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers

What you will bring:

• Bachelor of Science in Mining or Geological Engineering
• Must be registered (or eligible for registration) as a Professional with the Association of Professional Engineers & Geologists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
• Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in an underground mining environment.  Candidates with more than 5yrs of relevant experience are preferred.
• A strong understanding of underground ventilation systems and their design
• Commitment to safety
• Capable and willing to work underground
• Knowledge of Saskatchewan potash mining methods
• Leadership skills, including experience leading people or teams
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Analytical skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Proficient using CAD software.  Familiarity with mine planning software would be an asset
