What you will do:
- Assist with equipment selection, equipment specification, system design, system layout, field investigation, development of project cost estimates, and construction administration
- The Instrumentation Specialist possesses a sound knowledge base of instrumentation equipment, specifications, codes, and construction practices and works closely with project engineers and/or managers to ensure timely and accurate project turn around
- Provides instrumentation and controls discipline expertise to support Capital projects, consisting of detailed review of design drawings, scopes-of-work, peer review participation, etc.
- Possesses the ability to provide the instrumentation design deliverables in-house for minor instrumentation-type projects
- Routinely review and monitor field installations by others to assure compliance with good instrumentation work practices and PCS specifications
- Stays abreast of new advancements associated with instrumentation equipment, work practices, etc., and assists with efforts to coordinate such into Capital Project designs and executions
- Assist with the preparation of bid packages as they relate to instrumentation for contractors and interface with outside engineering firms on design requests
- Able to execute or learn basic to advanced CAD / Microstation drafting duties for drawing revisions and updates
- Function as a liaison between Engineering / Operations / Maintenance / Vendors / Contractors as needed for instrumentation and controls concerns and subject matters
- Instrumentation Specialist will be well-versed in the schematic, diagrammatic, and control logic composition of instrumentation and controls drawings and packages
- Assist and/or train maintenance group in the transition of new instrumentation equipment to the maintenance/production domain
- Assist Project Engineering and Maintenance Departments in assuring proper information and documentation exchange occurs for newly installed instrumentation and control systems and equipment
- Make visits as necessary to equipment and vendor locations to witness equipment factory acceptance testing, or to inspect prior to shipment, to assure compliance with design and specifications
- Willingness to work extended hours, particularly during scheduled outages
- Willingness to participate on corporate teams and assist other locations (some travel may be required)
- Willingness to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and willingness to participate in weekend and holiday coverage
- Performs other related duties as necessary
What you will bring:
- 5 years or more, in instrumentation and controls experience in chemical process plants
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associates or Bachelors Degree from accredited university or Engineering Technology
- Experience with plant design and project engineering a plus
- Creative, flexible, organized and technically connected
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational and planning skills, facilitation skills, computer skills and the ability to achieve results
- Familiarity with all electrical codes highly recommended
- Flexible, analytical and detailed oriented
- Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
