This position reports to the Manager, Capital Projects Engineering.

 

This position is located in Aurora, North Carolina, U.S.A. and is not available for remote work.  

 

What you will do:

 

  • Develop, plan, organize, and direct engineering projects to meet company objectives for targets, new product development and improvement of existing infrastructure
  • Work closely with multiple levels of management such as Corporate Capital group, Operations, Maintenance, and Technical Services teams to scope out prospective projects, agree on timings and service level agreements with clients, negotiate with third party contractors and manage the creation and delivery of detailed project plans
  • Complete assigned engineering projects and tasks relating to the mining and processing of phosphate ore, production of sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid, manufacturer of ammonia phosphate fertilizers and other phosphate products
  • Provide engineering support for satellite Phosphate Feed sites located in Illinois, Nevada, and Missouri
    • Potential required travel of 10%-25% annually
  • Prepare engineering scope of work and cost estimates in response to engineering requests submitted by other departments
  • Project management responsibilities associated with capital projects, including specifications, prepare requisitions, oversight on engineering firms, and bid analysis on project work activities
  • Prepare status reports and regularly monitors budgets, contractors, and schedules. Allocates project resources appropriately; approves expenditures
  • Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions
  • Act as resident project engineer, direct contract engineering services, ensure project cost control and input in to Oracle EPM data base
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations. Maintains project integrity and reputation through compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Attend seminars, meetings, and continuing education in the field of expertise to maintain an up-to-date working knowledge

 

What you will bring:

 

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • 5+ years of experience in chemical industry as project engineer or process engineer
  • Thorough knowledge in engineering principles
  • General knowledge of phosphate rock mining, ore processing and chemical processing, is desired

  • Demonstrated ability with following skills: Design Skills, Project Management, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills, Safety Management, Supervision, CAD, CAD/CAM Circuit Design, Oracle systems, P6 professional R15.2
  • Ability to work at high elevations and in open spaces such as platforms and/or catwalks, ascend/descend stairs/ladders, and move up to 20lbs
  • Ability to wear required, company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)--i.e., uniforms, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, emergency breathing apparatus 

 

Compensation & Benefits:

 

Salary Range: $110,000-$140,000 based on years of qualified experience.

Work Schedule: 9/80 (M-Th 9 hours, F off; M-Th 9 hours, F 8 hours)
