The General Supervisor of Chemical Maintenance is responsible for overall effective leadership and direction of the Chemical Maintenance areas. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining the technical expertise of the Department employees, monitoring their skill sets and development of training plans. Some of the key responsibilities of the Chemical Maintenance General Supervisor include, but are not limited to:

 

What you will do: 

 

  • Administer group safety meetings and shop safety inspections
  • Meet with peers and subordinates to set schedule plans for the week and check daily progress
  • Influence manpower requirements and salary adjustment requests
  • Prepare annual operating budgets, capital expenditure requests, and control budget cost
  • Evaluate and recommend capital needs for the group
  • Evaluate quality standards for area maintenance responsibility
  • Direct and coordinate the orderly and efficient operations of Chemical Maintenance crews, under supervision of Supervisors while carrying out duties as required by Superintendent and higher management
  • Resolve problems relating to or interfering with meeting maintenance schedules
  • Analyze and access methods of improving and reducing Maintenance operations costs
  • Analyze personnel needs according to production flow and operations conditions
  • Communicate daily with department Superintendent and department engineer to stay abreast of work schedules, planning changes, and critical timing of major projects
  • Review and discuss discipline problems with Supervisor. Evaluate and review performance of assigned Supervisor
  • Provide for training of personnel and Supervision and monitor personnel performance
  • Communicate and support management goals and objectives to all employees
  • Must possess the strength, and dexterity to personally inspect all areas of responsibility that may affect employee safety or environmental integrity

  • The General Supervisor of Chemical Maintenance must know and apply correct management, operations disciplines to maintain the sustainability and reliability of the integrated systems of people, materials and equipment
  • Have the ability to find solutions and resolve problems relating to or interfering with meeting maintenance schedules
  • Possess strong communication skills whether it is formally, or informally through phone calls or emails in order to convey management goals and objectives to all employees within scope of supervision
  • When issuing instructions to subordinates, maintenance supervisors must be able to provide clear, concise directions either verbally or in writing
  •  Ability to be able to comprehend information received through training or communications with others
  • Needs to have the capability of motivating others and developing staff members through coaching and effective leadership
  • At times, it may be necessary to resolve disputes or handle complaints involving one or more workers
  • This position requires knowledge equivalent to high school graduate level, demonstrated and consistent compliance with safety and environmental goals, and record of team participation and a minimum of 5 years of direct supervisory experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of the daily operations and processes within assigned department
  • Must pass a pre-employment exam and drug screening

  • Bachelors degree in related field of study, along with 6+ years of direct supervisory experience is preferred
  • A working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software is desirable
