**$1000.00 Sign-On- Bonus**

 

This is an hourly position and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following Nutrien, Environmental Protection Agency, Marine Security, and Mining Safety Health Administration, guidelines
  • Maintain and install pipe and component insulated covers throughout the Nutrien processing area by inspections and replacing insulation and coverings that are worn or damaged
  • Remove insulation or covers from chemical processing pipes, tanks and components for maintenance to reveal leaks or when installing new processing components
  • Oversee and direct the support insulators on the job, conduct periodic equipment inspections, and operate equipment and systems in a safe and environmentally responsible manner for the purpose of delivering the highest quality service available while keeping safety as the number one goal when servicing the customers throughout the plant site
  • Climb ladders, scaffolding, or production platforms to remove or install insulation and pads
  • Install sheet metal around insulated pipes by using screws, straps, or pins in order to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical damage while producing material
  • Apply insulation and sheet metal to production components by measuring components and fabricating metal covers and pads to insulate production components
  • Conduct housekeeping duties by cleaning assigned areas and coordinating trash pickups as needed
  • Detect gas leaks by visually inspecting super heater, converters, ducts, hot heat exchangers, and cold heat exchangers and applying tracing techniques when leaks are hard to locate
  • Lay out, measure, and marks dimensions and reference lines on material, such as roofing panels, and sheet metal, by using calculators, scribes, dividers, squares, and rulers
  • Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces by using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors
  • Moves controls, buttons, or levers to position man lifts for removing and installing sheet metal and insulation to components
  • Remove insulation from mechanical components by using aviator cutters, knives, jig saws, sawzall, and skill saws to locate leaks, and areas requiring insulation replacement
  • Roll metal used as insulation covers by inserting flat metal into roller to fabricate rolled metal covers to fit various sized pipes, ducts, and valves
  • Cover insulation with Architectural Materials by cutting wool or fiberglass insulation and laying it out on AMI material, cuts to size, then seals edges with hognose crimps, inserts stainless steel wiring for lacing pads onto components
  • Locate acid leaks by removing insulation and tracing the source of the leak, coordinate with maintenance to path pipe, and then reinstall insulation and sheet metal
  • Troubleshoot work-related problems by removing insulation and metal coverings from pipes, cleans debris from area and locates leaks
  • Conduct daily vehicle and equipment inspections by using Daily Inspection log to confirm equipment is in good operational condition, report and schedule repairs as needed
  • Follow requirements for critical lifts by following Nutrien guidelines
  • Supervise the activities of the support team during the shift, and to ensure the health and safety of the workers who work and enter the area where repairs are being conducted
  • Determine the amounts and types of insulation needed, and methods of installation by considering factors such as location, temperature, surface shape, and equipment use
  • Dispose of insulation and metal materials removed from repaired areas by transporting metal scrap to recycling center and placing bagged insulation into dumpster
  • Estimate metal sheet lengths needed to fabricate covers by using the nominal thickness chart comparing pipe diameter and width of material to estimate length of material needed to cover pipe
  • Fabricate or alters parts at construction sites by using shears, hammers, punches, and drills
  • Fasten roof panel edges and machine-made molding to structures by nailing or screwing pieces into place
  • Conduct training sessions with team members by demonstrating proper lay out, wire twisting, cutting, and installation of fabricated covers
  • Determine project materials by estimating materials, assembly sequences and removal methods using blueprints, drawings, and other written or verbal instructions
  • Develop patterns that use materials most efficiently by using manual metalworking equipment to complete layouts, such as beading crimper, Pittsburg machine, breaks, and shears etc
  • Obtain permit for job from operations and signs-off on work permits by verifying items regarding removal and installation of insulation are correct and signs off on permit
  • Replace damaged ceiling tile, floor tiles, and wall coverings by using hand tools such as saws, ladders, scrapers, and utility knives
  • Transport prefabricated parts to construction sites for assembly and installation by loading materials into truck, bus, or gator for transport
  • Fasten seams and joints together by using bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips, straps, and bonds to attach insulation and covers
  • Remove or seal off asbestos by following safety procedures related to proper removal and disposal of asbestos insulation according to Environmental Protection Agency disposal guidelines, using techniques such as spray painting, and amended water to enclose friable fibers
  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings by using hand tools and power tools
  • Install assemblies, such as flashing, pipes, tubes, heating and air conditioning ducts, furnace casings, rain gutters, and down spouts in supportive frameworks
  • Install Plexiglas in windows, doors, and partitions by measuring materials and installing using jigsaws, drills, and other hand tools
  • Paint structures by using latex, DTM, and oil based primers, observing regulations regarding thickness and type of paint required for area
  • Secure metal roof panels in place, by interlocking and fastening grooved panel edges

 

What you will bring:

 

  • The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) testing is required for all hourly applicants of Nutrien. Applicants must complete this test and meet a minimum of 5 in Graphic Literacy, 5 on Applied Mathematics and 4 on Workplace Documents in order to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien

  • Above average cognitive skills as well as interpersonal skills to plan and organize the daily work activities to serve the daily demands of the customers
  • Ability to provide clear instructions to others while focusing on the primary task of installing insulation on processing components
  • Ability to handle conflicting situations when dealing with production concerns
  • Singular focus for getting the job completed during upset conditions

  • Ability to work safely in high places and with hazardous equipment

  • Constant attention to details during the removal and replacement of insulated components and demands quick efficient actions needed to resume chemical processing

 

 

Compensation & Benefits:

 

Starting rate $30.53 - $43.47 per hour (plus available overtime). Nutrien offers a skills-based pay compensation program. Hourly rates can progresses based on On-Job-Training, formal learning, and observation of new skills.
