What You'll Do:

Provide safety expertise in all required safety reviews and meetings (e.g., Tap Roots).
• Recommend alternatives or modifications to existing safety systems and offer technical advice to improve safety for all employees and contractors on site.
• Accompany and document OSHA/MSHA, insurance, and other formal safety inspections.
• Coach employees and contractors to foster a safe work environment by educating personnel on compliance with safety, health, and environmental (SHE) requirements, leading by example, and promoting a positive SHE culture.
• Train new employees and contractors, conduct follow-up assessments, and keep experienced personnel informed of safe and efficient work methods.
• Deliver site-specific MSHA/OSHA compliance training to employees, contractors, and visitors in accordance with the site’s training plan.
• Provide ongoing training on MSHA/OSHA auditing, Nutrien Guidance Documents, Tier Standards, and site/area-specific SOPs and regulations through practical field sessions to ensure understanding and application.
• Support technical training programs and implement approved safety practices to promote efficient and safe operations.
• Participate in new training alignment initiatives as outlined by Corporate, in coordination with the Training Department.
• Reinforce proper work planning and adherence to safe work practices per Nutrien Corporate Policies and Regulations.
• Lead Safety Team Leaders meetings and required safety training sessions—develop and distribute meeting topics, follow effectiveness guidelines, set objectives and agendas, and continuously review and improve sessions.
• Review safety-related activities for documentation completeness; analyze safety system data streams (e.g., KPIs, incident reports) for continuous improvement; identify trends and corrective actions; track SHE work orders daily and assist with completion as needed.
• Provide feedback to personnel on challenges and activity completion.
• Apply elements of Process Safety Management (PSM) as best practices to enhance safety systems.
• Assist in initial incident investigations and gather information for the ETQ database.
• Develop, recommend, and implement changes to safety procedures, including SOPs and site policies.

What You'll Bring:

 • High School Diploma required; candidate should be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in Phosphate Mining and Chemical Plants through work experience.
• Associate Degree or 2-year Technical Degree preferred.
• Motivated and capable of obtaining Professional Safety Certifications.
• OSHA and MSHA instructor certifications preferred.
• Strong leadership and influence skills with employees and contractors.
• Proficient in analytical reading and professional writing.
• Effective team collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in business computer applications (Microsoft Office, typing, safety-related research).
• Ability to assess safety programs and recommend improvements to the Safety Manager.
• Capable of developing working knowledge of corporate and site-specific safety programs, policies, and procedures.
• Skilled in leading audits and delivering safety training as needed.
• Experience in incident investigations preferred.
