This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.

 

The Superintendent, Maintenance IE is responsible for driving continuous improvement in the facility through the use of reliability-based principles. The incumbent is responsible for the safe instrument and electrical maintenance and reliability of the entire site and several remote sites. This will include all instrumentation, electrical, distributed control systems and power distribution systems associated with operation process equipment.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Manages departments to best support the maintenance and production goals of the Aurora Operation
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to minimize costs, improve production, provide a continuous supply of electric power and effect utilization of labor and materials
  • Develops long range strategic plans necessary to correct, improve, eliminate recurrent problems, and implement systems to maintain our competitive position
  • Participates as a member in industrial utilities groups, to ensure reliable and cost-effective electric utilities for Nutrien
  • Directs and coordinates through subordinate supervisory personnel activities of workers engaged in Preventive Maintenance and repairs
  • Directs departmental efforts in the development and implementation of goals and objectives in the areas of safety, performance, environmental compliance, repair quality, employee development, productivity, and maintenance
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize costs, and affect better utilization of labor and materials
  • Directs training of workers to improve performance and acquaint subordinates with company policies and procedures
  • Confers with management personnel to resolve maintenance problems, recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment
  • Prepares and submits budget recommendations and controls spending to optimize the use of capital and expense funds in the plant areas
  • Maintain and administer an effective safety and environmental program which includes training

 

What you will bring:

 

  • A four-year degree is preferred, with preference for an Electrical Engineering B.S. degree. Subjects of importance include: Engineering, Electrical Infrastructure, Process Control, Business, Communications, and Accounting
  • Five+ years’ experience in maintaining plant instrumentation at a chemical plant, ammonia, plant, refinery, or utility plant
  • Minimum Five+ years in supervision of instrument, control, and electrical personnel
  • Five+ years’ experience in the installation and maintenance of electrical distribution and instrumentation systems is essential
  • Knowledge of Maintenance Practices and technology must be kept current
  • Communications skills are essential         
  • Incumbent must possess the strength and dexterity to personally inspect any area of their responsibility that may affect employee safety or environmental integrity
