This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.
The Superintendent, Mill Maintenance is responsible for driving continuous improvement in the facility through the use of reliability-based principles.
What you will do:
- Manages departments to best support the maintenance and production goals of the Aurora Operation
- Directs and coordinates through subordinate supervisory personnel activities of workers engaged in Preventive Maintenance and repairs.
- Directs departmental efforts in the development and implementation of goals and objectives in the areas of safety, performance, environmental compliance, repair quality, employee development, productivity, and maintenance.
- Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize costs, and affect better utilization of labor and materials.
- Guide actions based on inspections, tests, predictive and condition monitoring technology.
- Directs training of workers to improve performance and acquaint subordinates with company policies and procedures.
- Ensures repairs, inspections, tests, and preventive actions are completed at the appropriate quality.
- Confers with management personnel to resolve maintenance problems, recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
- Prepares and submits budget recommendations and controls spending to optimize the use of capital and expense funds in the plant areas.
- Maintain and administer an effective safety and environmental program which includes training.
- Knowledge of Maintenance Practices and technology must be kept current through both internal and external training.
What you will bring:
- A four-year degree is preferred, with preference for an Engineering B.S. degree in Mining, Chemical or Mechanical Discipline. Subjects of importance include Materials Handling, Engineering, Corrosion, Metallurgy, Ceramics, Fluid Mechanics, Mineral Processing, Business, Communications, and Accounting.
- Five years of practical experience in Maintenance or closely related industry is also required.
- If promoted to this position from within the company, the employee must have received a High Performer or higher rating on the last employee evaluation.
- Incumbent must possess the strength and dexterity to personally inspect any area of their responsibility that may affect employee safety or environmental integrity.
- The incumbent understands the principles and practices of employee supervision, including work planning, assignment, review and evaluation, and the training of staff in work procedures.
- The skills and knowledge to perform this job is acquired generally through a career ladder in Maintenance Management.
