The Morehead Terminal Supervisor’s objective is to manage the barge, truck and rail un/loading distribution and storage activities of the Morehead City Terminal. The Morehead Terminal Supervisor plans, directs, coordinates, and executes daily activities based on the published schedule or directive. The supervisor will monitor the progress of daily activities, deal with any identified obstacles that limit the productivity of the crew, conduct site visits to ensure that all assigned work is performed in a safe manner and provide direct supervision of operating crew during the shift. The supervisor will work directly with the employees and ensure that the company’s business objectives and safety, health & environmental policies are met.

 

What you will do:

 

•   Incumbent is responsible for the coordination of operations, maintenance, and administration of the port facility and equipment while protecting the safety of those assets and the environment in accordance with established goals and guidelines as needed. These tasks are accomplished within the scope of instructions received from Aurora Management, Sales and Transportation and Distribution department, and state and federal agencies.
•    Coordinate movement of all products in conjunction with North Carolina State Port Authority, United States Coast Guard, Department of Homeland Security, shipping agencies, tugs, forwarders, Radio Island Terminal, and Distribution departments at Aurora
•    Coordinate and document the receiving, storage, and shipment of liquids and dry bulk export/import commodities in a timely and efficient manner
•    Maintain proper storage and shipment of received products in accordance with Nutrien certifications and standards, HACCP, food grade
•    Coordinate, schedule, and plan all operation and maintenance requirements to keep Nutrien’s assets at the port maintained for operation. Work activities included but not limited to, job sequence, parts, materials, tooling, skills, and personnel requirements
•    Perform weekly safety meetings. Provide interaction in toolbox meeting prior to the start of a shift. Issue work permits. Review and sign JHA’s
•    Maintain weekly schedule and assign daily work to operations and maintenance employees
•    Oversee maintenance activities and scheduling of personnel to complete all scheduled preventative maintenance activities and monthly inspections. This includes assigning and closing work orders upon completion
•    Oversee Nutrien employees, including work schedules, time off & performance reviews. Coordinate with Aurora when these employees are available and needed in Aurora
•    Organize and perform monthly audits and safety observations, emphasizing unsafe conditions or behaviors to obtain zero incidents or injuries among Nutrien employees and contract personnel--support these actions through Management Audits and Safety Observations. LCA, KPA

•    Follow established guidelines and procedures to ensure compliance with environmental standards and regulations, both internal and external. To eliminate potential for compliance or regulatory issues, with the assistance of Nutrien’s Environmental department
•    Coordinating with the Marine Supervisor, maintain the MHC site in accordance with the hurricane prep and implementation plan to be as ready as possible for all inclement weather
•    Communicate with a wide range of people with professionalism and expertise to maintain a good working relationship and clear communication with individuals that the position may contact
•    Communicate with other Nutrien Aurora Phosphate departments and/or contractors to advise of new security, safety, environmental, USCG regulations
•    Provide coverage for the Marine Supervisor when necessary

 

What you will bring:

 

   High School diploma or equivalent is preferred

•   Training in export documentation and thorough knowledge of State and Company Safety and Environmental regulations

•   Qualified candidate will be an effective team builder with demonstrated abilities

•   Position requires incumbent to have proven history of directing and coordinating department needs

•   Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate all levels of personnel

•  Candidate must have excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and be highly motivated and self-directed

•   Applicant must be highly proficient with strong computer skills to keep up with daily tasks including but not limited to: emails, billing, research, problem solving and web-based training

•  Strong organizational and logistic skills are required to maintain documentation for regulatory compliance in marine, truck, and rail transportation

•  The ability to multi-task and have strong communication and negotiation skills for the daily interaction with our internal and outside business   

•  The incumbent has a wide range of authority for decision making with minimal supervision; due to the absolute necessity for coordination of effort, all major decisions are discussed and jointly made with the department General Supervisor

•  Flexibility-department is a 24-hour operation and incumbent may be called upon to make decisions involving operations and scheduling when superiors are inaccessible outside of normal work schedule
