Reporting to the Director, European Sales, the role is a key contributor to Nutrien’s sales organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing several of Nutrien’s largest European accounts and help to grow our European business.

 

The Senior Sales Manager will be responsible for developing strategies to execute sales and commercial goals, with a focus on fostering the best customer relationships in the industry. The successful candidate will have an ownership mindset bringing forth strong communication and leadership skills, strategic thinking, a track record of mentoring talent and promoting diversity and inclusion across the team. The Senior Sales Manager will be asked to play a key strategic role within Nutrien, as well as the European Sales team, while working collaboratively with key stakeholders across the sales team and cross functionally within the Commercial team. The Senior Sales Manager must be adept at problem solving highly complex situations that support the needs of the customers and the company. The successful candidate will be dedicated to building a strong culture aligning with Nutrien’s values. 

 


What you will do:

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement with customers, the team and across the organization including other Sales Regions, Customer Experience, and TD&L (Transportation Distribution & Logistics).
  • Stay informed about market trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities to better service customer needs through innovation.
  • Develop and execute business plans with strategic customers to assist in achieving short- and long-term sales objectives while maximizing the profitability of the sales territory in conjunction with the stated sales strategy for Nutrien.
  • Utilize knowledge and experience to engage key customers and enhance their business and create synergies for both buyer and seller.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all customers within the region, to help support the sales team as well as the Director, during customer and industry meetings.
  • Be the source of local, domestic, and global market expertise and analysis for strategic partners.  Have a strong understanding of international dynamics.
  • Willingness and ability to participate as a subject matter expert in projects and special assignments.
  • Responsible for yearly sales plan preparation and monthly forecasting adjustments as well as longer term strategic initiatives with key downstream partners.
  • Work closely with customers, product management, and TD&L to identify infrastructure optimization in the warehouse and distribution system.  Manage, with other functional units, timely delivery of products.
  • Focus on strategic products and navigate geographical constraints/opportunities.
  • Deliver presentations with Nutrien market intelligence at internal sales meetings, customer meetings and industry conferences.
  • Communicate effectively with senior leaders both internally and externally about critical activities and business priorities.
  • Actively participate in industry associations related to territory or field.
  • Assist Director, in development of departmental forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis to reduce risk to the corporation and maximize profitability.
  • Provide Director, with a consistent stream of market intelligence to assist in directing the course of sales strategy to achieve goals and objectives
  • Travel efficiently and intelligently to customer and industry meetings.

 

What you will bring:

  • Post-secondary degree in Agriculture, Business, Supply Chain, Economics or a related field.  A master’s degree is not necessary but preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and ability to interact with all levels of employees and management both internally and externally.
  • Must be collaborative cross functionally with a proactive approach.
  • Highly developed customer service skills with a proven ability to grow and sustain strong customer relationships.
  • Detailed understanding and history of working in SAP system.
  • Superior business acumen and understanding of global fertilizer markets, and a proven ability to aggregate and disseminate key market data.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a proven track record of achieving strategic sales goals.
  • Demonstrates exceptional organizational skills, adept at effectively managing multiple tasks simultaneously while prioritizing deliverables.
  • Experienced and proficient in a variety of software programs and applications including Microsoft Office products particularly Word, Excel, Power Bi, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of the organization's structure and key positions. Develops trusting relationships both internally and externally.
  • Agronomic expertise in regional crops is preferred.
  • Awareness of industry standards related to handling, storage and use of fertilizer and specialty products.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset that demonstrates ownership for delivering superior value for the organization.
