This position is required to be on-site at either our Calgary, Alberta or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan corporate office.

This position reports to the Vice President, Internal Audit. 

 

What you will do:  

 

  • Lead and champion Nutrien's ERM program, including continuous review of the program design, maintenance of the enterprise risk register and risk reporting. Actively monitor risk and support the development of key risk indicators to help identify potential risk events that could have a significant impact on our strategic objectives. 
  • Foster communication across functions to identify emerging risks and develop robust risk treatment plans. Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to establish, implement, and maintain effective risk mitigation strategies. 
  • Facilitate risk workshops and training sessions aimed at increasing risk awareness and competencies. 
  • Ensure the risk management process and strategy setting process result in a purposeful alignment of strategy and risk; 
  • Develop and enhance consolidated risk reports for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and the Board.  
  • Ensure the integration of risk insights into key decision-making processes to inform strategic objectives and prioritize risk management efforts. 
  • Oversee the preparation of external disclosures related to risk, including the Annual Information Form (AIF), Annual Report, and Sustainability Reports.  
  • Oversee centralized management of policies across the organization, ensuring they are consistent and aligned with global practices.  
  • Apply effective leadership skills to manage the ERM team, including performance management, career development, and budget oversight. Cultivate a team environment that encourages proactive engagement with risk management activities and initiatives. 

 

What you will bring:  
 

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or similar discipline
  • 15+ years of Enterprise Risk Management or Finance experience with at least 5 years of leadership experience
  • Proven experience leading an Enterprise risk function in a large global matrixed organization is preferred 
  • Experience overseeing risk management discussions with the ELT and preparing Board level reporting  
  • Ability to think creatively and eager to develop innovative solutions 
  • Strong mentoring and coaching experience to aid financial team members and peers with diverse levels of expertise 
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with all levels of management within the organization  
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence and achieve alignment across a range of stakeholder groups and drive risk ownership accountability and action 
  • People leadership as a priority, team builder and champion 
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills, with comfort working cross-functionally to gather information  
  • Proven change agent with excellent facilitation and problem-solving skills 
  • Knowledge of agriculture, retail, and chemical markets 
  • Understanding of business processes and process improvement methodologies and transformation
