Reporting to the Manager, Netback Accounting, the Sr. Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day transactional revenue activity within Oracle and SAP, including month-end close processes, journal entry creation, account reconciliations, analysis, and reporting. This position requires a high degree of cross-department and cross-business unit interaction. The Netback Accounting team operates with a significant number of deadlines and reporting obligations and as such, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities.
What You'll Do:
- Preparation of revenue activities related to month-end close, including coordination of internal and external stakeholders and auditor requests as needed.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial close processes and reporting, including variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Perform walkthroughs with SOX and the external auditors of revenue processes for key controls and ITACs.
- Assist with collaboration with IT to make changes or set up new types of margin transactions in the source systems and required testing.
- Act as a point of contact for Netback-related questions with a strong understanding of key drivers, the underlying transactional data, including system consolidation processes.
- Responsible for quarterly testing of title transfers and sales contract revenue review.
- Collaborate with various departments to lead and execute ongoing process improvement initiatives and assist with identifying new areas for improvement.
- Manage additional ad-hoc requests as required by senior management or other departments as applicable.
- Execute required system testing for upgrades/enhancements to software.
- Support Manager, Netback Accounting in recruiting and onboarding the intern within the Netback/Margin group, with the intern directly reporting to the Sr. Accountant, Netback position.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional Accounting designation with 6+ years of accounting experience with exposure to revenue accounting and contract reviews.
- Strong analytical skills to assess accounting implications and provide clear guidance.
- Demonstrated time management skills to effectively manage multiple tasks under pressure and to meet deadlines with multiple ongoing initiatives; ability to exercise strong professional judgment with integrity and strong business ethics.
- Detail oriented while also having a broad conceptual understanding of the application of accounting and materiality in a multifaceted business environment; analytical and strategic mindset and initiative.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a team environment and interact with all levels of the organization.
- Possess an automation, efficiency, and process improvement mindset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with HANA, Power Query and PowerBI would be considered an asset.
- Experience using SAP, Oracle, HANA and BPC would be considered an asset.
