What you will do:

  • Oversee a fleet of ~ 5500 railcars, ensuring a high level of rail car utilization while providing timely service to our customers, both external and internal
  • Implement tracking systems and tools to monitor the real-time location and status of rail fleet
  • Work closely with procurement, product management, sales, and production teams to align rail operations with production schedules, customer demands, and market trends
  • Provide accurate ETA information to internal teams, customers, and other relevant parties to facilitate effective planning and communication
  • Responsible for handling problems and taking corrective action with rail carriers as required
  • Process rail car billings, rail diversions, and rebills as required by changing business needs
  • Maintain and analyze rail operations data, identify areas for improvement, such as reducing transit times, optimizing routes, increasing asset utilization, and minimizing downtime while maintaining safety standards
  • Chair and participate in conference calls with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage rail car storage locations and anticipate storage requirements
  • Support rail operations’ adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory guidelines
  • Support and participate in TD&L projects as required
  • Responsible for invoice review and approval

What you will bring:

  • University degree in Operations Management or equivalent
  • 4 years of related experience with a preference for previous transportation experience
  • Professional designation in the logistics and supply chain field would be considered an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strength in excel (pivot tables, graphs, charts)
  • Ability to think strategically and with an attention to detail
  • Strong desire to work collaboratively to add value to the business with a mindset for continuous improvement
