Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Project Management COE, the Senior Advisor, PMO Governance and Performance is responsible for shaping and operationalizing the foundational governance and performance management capabilities of the PMO at Nutrien. This role leads the development and maintenance of core project and portfolio management standards, policies, and frameworks, while also enabling enterprise-wide visibility, prioritization, and value delivery across corporate portfolios.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in both project management and PMO governance, with experience implementing enterprise standards, driving benefits realization, and facilitating performance reviews in complex organizations.
What you will do:
Strategic Alignment & Oversight
- Lead the design and implementation of PMO governance structures aligned to Nutrien’s strategic objectives.
- Facilitate cross-functional portfolio prioritization and planning to ensure investments align with enterprise capacity and value goals.
- Support the development of project and portfolio performance KPIs and dashboards to provide visibility into delivery health and value realization.
- Analyze portfolio-level performance trends, risks, and benefits realization to inform governance decisions and improvements.
Governance & Adherence
- Develop and maintain core project management policies, standards, templates, and lifecycle frameworks.
- Define and embed key governance processes including stage-gate reviews, risk management, and benefits tracking into the project lifecycle.
- Conduct project health checks and compliance reviews to monitor adherence to PMO standards.
- Maintain governance artifacts such as playbooks, reporting templates, and governance calendars (e.g., for SteerCos and QBRs).
- Enable and manage configuration governance in project delivery tools (e.g., Plannisware, Power BI, or PPM platforms).
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Standardize and coordinate performance review reporting across portfolios, enabling clear and consistent communication of status, value delivery, and risks.
- Generate executive-level reporting packages and insights to support strategic discussions and decision-making.
- Oversee and support the ongoing refinement of Nutrien’s benefits realization strategy and framework.
- Partner with Finance and Business Leads to validate and update benefit realization progress post-implementation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Enablement
- Collaborate with Portfolio Leads, Project Managers, Finance, and other enabling functions to ensure alignment of governance practices and reporting.
- Support the PMO leadership team in facilitating governance forums and following up on decisions and actions.
- Deliver training, workshops, and onboarding for new stakeholders on governance standards and PMO expectations.
- Act as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on PMO governance, delivery assurance, and portfolio performance management.
What you will bring:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience:
- 6 to 8 years of progressive experience in project management or PMO roles, with direct experience building or maturing PMO governance in a large organization
- Strong experience developing and implementing project delivery standards, portfolio reporting frameworks, and benefits realization strategies
- Strong analytical and facilitation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
- Experience working cross-functionally with Finance, IT, HR, and corporate functions
- Proficiency with project portfolio management tools and reporting dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Smartsheet, or equivalent)
Certifications:
- Recognized certifications in project management are considered strong assets.
