Reporting to the Vice President, Nutrien Financial, the Senior Director, Nutrien Financial Global Commercial Development will lead major global initiatives across capital markets, financial product development, demand generation and other strategic projects to grow the Nutrien Ag Solutions “Retail” and Nutrien Financial business. 

 

What you will do: 

  • Lead major strategic initiatives across Nutrien Financial’s geographic footprint in Australia, Canada and the United States including capital markets, product development and demand generation.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of captive finance professionals in capital markets, product development and demand generation, and provide leadership across Nutrien and Nutrien Financial cross functional teams in a matrixed environment to achieve business results.
  • Develop, enhance, and execute Nutrien Financial’s capabilities with third party financial institutions and insurers to access capital, mitigate risk, augment funding capabilities, and broaden market reach.
  • Drive alignment across various internal groups including Treasury, Strategy, Retail, Credit and Finance regarding third-party funding strategies.
  • Nurture and maintain an active investor base in North America and Australia for Nutrien Financial. Lead, strengthen and grow or sunset relationships to maintain access to the market for Nutrien.
  • Lead financial product development and strategy, delivering class leading financial solutions, integrated into and meeting and exceeding the expectations of Retail in addition to growers, while delivering appropriate risk adjusted returns. Work with Nutrien Financial sales teams and the Retail network to drive adoption of products as well as product improvement and simplification.
  • Lead global demand generation for Nutrien Financial, delivering quantifiable results across an omnichannel marketing environment.
  • Be an active and influential member of Nutrien Financial’s leadership team, balancing business priorities across the Nutrien Financial and Nutrien business.
  • Oversee and serve on Steering Committee for the Nutrien Financial Canada’s Bank of Nova Scotia program.
  • Engage in various special projects ranging from strategic business reviews, including pricing projects, contract negotiation, credit strategy, third party engagements and preparation of executive and board level materials.
  • Be prepared to occasionally travel domestically and internationally across the Nutrien Financial business footprint.
  • Success in this role will be measured by Nutrien Financial achieving its performance and profitability objectives, in addition to risk metrics and funding diversification.

 

What you will bring:

  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in financial services and capital markets (required); experience working for or with captives preferred.
  • Understanding of various capital markets structures including syndication, securitization, credit insurance and vendor programs. 
  • A combination of strong strategic orientation, expertise in understanding marketing and customer relationships, a strong understanding of financial products and the ability to collaborate and influence across a diverse organization. 
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate complex capital markets and financial product contracts. 
  • Strong experience abilities in strategy and product development. 
  • Knowledge of the agriculture and/or chemical industry, and economic and political factors. 
  • Prior experience working for multinational companies in a global role is preferred.
  • Expertise across accounting, finance and treasury disciplines, in addition to financial services regulatory environments.
  • Strong knowledge of the financial, credit, banking, and insurance markets. 
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a solution- oriented team in unstructured and matrixed environments.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills and responsiveness to clients and senior leadership of Nutrien and Retail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field, Master’s in finance or related field preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail, with excellent teaming and adaptability.
