Reporting to the Assistant Treasurer, the Senior Manager, Corporate Finance is a key member within the Treasury function.  Treasury is a dynamic and high performance team responsible for debt and equity capital markets activity, global cash management, financial risk management and insurance.  The team’s mandate is to support Nutrien’s strategy of building shareholder value through maintaining financial strength and preserving assets.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Manage group funding strategy, ensuring optimal capital structure and access to liquidity. Develop and implement medium to long-term funding plans aligned with corporate growth objectives. Optimize cost of capital while maintaining flexibility and financial resilience.
  • Execution of FX transactions and hedge programs to mitigate currency risks. Monitor currency exposures and execute hedging strategies in coordination with internal stakeholders. Ensure compliance with internal policies and market best practices.
  • Oversee risk management related to treasury, financial markets, and funding activities. Identify financial risks across interest rates, FX, and liquidity. Implement mitigation strategies and provide regular reporting to senior management.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with global and regional banking partners. Serve as the primary point of contact for banks, negotiating terms, facilities, and credit lines. Ensure diversification of counterparties and alignment with the company's financial strategy.
  • Collaborate with cash management team. Monitor, analyze and collaborate with cash management, Tax and Legal for the optimal Group funding structure
  • Manage communication with rating agencies. Prepare rating presentations, data submissions, and engage with analysts to maintain or improve corporate ratings. Act as the internal liaison for information gathering and scenario planning.
  • Support issuance of debt instruments and other financing initiatives. Lead or support capital market transactions including bonds, loans, and structured finance. Conduct financial analysis and coordinate with legal, tax, and external advisors. Analyze financing structures, globally leveraging utilization of beneficial finance products and/or restructuring.
  • Monitor financial markets and assess implications for funding and risk exposure. Track macroeconomic trends, interest rates, and capital market developments. Provide insights to senior leadership to support decision-making and risk management.
  • Drive improvements in treasury systems, controls, and reporting. Lead automation and digitalization efforts within the treasury function. Ensure robust governance and compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
  • Prepare presentations and reports for senior executives on treasury activities. Develop clear, data-driven presentations to communicate funding strategies, risk exposures, market conditions, and liquidity positions. Support executive decision-making with concise analysis and actionable insights.
  • Support financial assurance activities: surety bonds and letters of credit.
  • Other Treasury activities that may arise as a result of Nutrien strategy execution.

 

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in finance, and a completed professional designation (CPA-CA, CFA)
  • 7+ years of proven treasury experience within a publicly traded company
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Open to all industries however industrial industry experience, specifically within the mining/ chemical / fertilizer /agro industries would be considered an advantage
  • Extensive experience with international and domestic banking, capital markets and financial risk management is required
  • Experience in Project and Structured Finance for Capital Projects
  • Project management experience such as systems and process improvement projects as well as management of M&A and integration projects would be preferable
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive and innovative in the structuring of financial requirements within a dynamic environment
  • Proven experience in designing and using analytical tools and mathematical models
  • Knowledge of risk management techniques
  • Technologically savvy with significant exposure to corporate information technology system
  • Ability to make complex decisions
  • Acts with honour and character
  • Being Organizationally Savvy
