Reporting to the Director, Capital Procurement this role serves on the leadership team for major capital projects. Depending on the project size this role will have management responsibilities for a team that might include contracts, procurement, materials management, logistics, expediting and supplier quality. This person is responsible for ensuring that Nutrien procurement best practices and governance are followed in major project activities and strategic supplier relationships and contracts are leveraged to provide the best value for Nutrien while mitigating risk. The role has the important responsibility of major project involvement from initiation through closure, including direct responsibility for contracting strategies and resultant bidding, negotiation and management of EPC/EPCM or other project related agreements. The successful candidate will manage escalations and resolve disputes/claims with material and service providers to ensure Nutrien is receiving the highest quality throughout the project.
What you will do:
- Develop project contracting strategy in collaboration with project management team.
- Develop project procurement guidelines in support of Nutrien procedures and project objectives.
- Represent the Procurement organization both internally and externally, ensuring compliance with all Nutrien policies and standards.
- Responsible for developing all procurement metrics and related reporting.
- Ensure collaboration of procurement activities within the project team and involve other internal procurement stakeholders such as Category Management, Inventory/Warehouse, Governance etc. as appropriate.

- Post order management and expediting
- On/Off site materials management
- Contract administration
- Claims/disputes
- Contract close out
- Vendor evaluations
- Manage key contractor relationships and EPC/EPCM contracts.
- Lead project procurement staff.
- Creates significant value and mitigates risk through early planning and direct involvement.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field – MBA or graduate degree is an asset.
- 10+ years of major project procurement experience and 4 years in a procurement leadership role in large mining, oil & gas, construction, transportation, etc.
- Proven leadership skills in the areas of major contract planning, negotiation, execution and administration.
- Strong team oriented person who respects and values the goals of the project and collaborates with other functional disciplines on an ongoing basis.
- Must have strong working knowledge of project management processes, tools and systems.
- Certifications in Supply Chain, Project Management and/or Logistics is an asset.
