This position plays a key role in the digital development team within Nutrien’s IT Digital Delivery Center (DDC).  The DDC oversees and executes design, development, and delivery of digital and custom solutions for Nutrien.  The DDC focuses on driving value from Nutrien’s strategic digital technology investments by delivering exceptional experiences and placing humans and customer obsession at center of what we do, what we develop and how we deliver and sustain our digital assets.

 

This position reports to the Senior Manager, QA and Release.

 

What you will do:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and efficient automated test frameworks and scripts using industry-standard tools and technologies
  • Collaborating with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and define test plans and test cases
  • Working closely with offshore development teams to align on project goals, facilitate knowledge transfer, and ensuring smooth collaboration across different time zones and cultures
  • Executing automated tests, analyzing test results, and reporting on defects and issues, ensuring timely resolution and tracking
  • Contributing in the development and implementation of the QA automation strategy for the DDC
  • Identifying opportunities for test automation and work towards maximizing test coverage and efficiency across projects
  • Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior QA engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the QA team
  • Participating in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, actively contributing to the overall success of the team.
  • Collaborating with DevOps engineers to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and ensure the reliability and stability of our software releases
  • Providing thought leadership regarding adoption of emerging trends in software quality assurance

 

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree an asset
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in software quality assurance, with a focus on test automation
  • Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., C#, Java, Python, JavaScript) and experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, or Playwright
  • Strong understanding of the Page Object Model design pattern
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab CI/CD) and version control systems, familiarity with GitHub experience working in an agile environment, proficient with Jira
  • Solid understanding of software testing methodologies, principles, and best practices
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a passion for ensuring high-quality software products
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, Agile environment
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities and requirements
  • Understanding in Micro-Service based architectures, patterns and RESTful API integrations/endpoints, tools such as Postman and SOAPUI are preferred
  • Understanding in Behavior Driven Testing to improve user experiences and designs, and experience with BDD frameworks such as Cucumber or SpecFlow
