What You'll Do:

  • Enterprise Engineering Stewardship:
    • Uphold Nitrogen engineering standards aligned with regulatory requirements and Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practice (RAGAGEP).
    • Maintain programs and practices grounded in safety, environmental stewardship, risk reduction, and long-term asset performance.
    • Oversee engineering quality systems and track emerging practices, measurement frameworks, and quality improvements.
  • Technical Governance & Compliance:
    • Provide governance oversight for Process Safety Management (PSM), Operational Integrity, and Asset Integrity programs across Nitrogen.
    • Audit, assess, and report on compliance performance; support sites in addressing gaps and corrective actions through transparent processes.
    • Implement key programs and the Nutrien Integrated Management System to strengthen operational integrity and compliance.
  • Technical Subject Matter Expertise (SME) Leadership:
    • Maintain deep expertise in process engineering, PSM, mechanical/rotating, static equipment, and electrical & instrumentation disciplines.
    • Provide risk-based technical recommendations, ensuring deviations are justified through structured evaluation and documented decision-making.
    • Lead SME engagement on complex technical issues, ensuring advice is practical, fit-for-purpose, and value-driven.
  • Knowledge Sharing & Best Practices:
    • Act as the primary conduit for sharing practices across sites; connect teams facing challenges with those demonstrating excellence.
    • Build and maintain communities of practice to drive consistent execution and learning with Nitrogen and Potash/Phosphate counterparts.
    • Drive continuous improvement, technology innovation, and modernization to enhance safety, reliability, efficiency, and cost performance.
  • Capital Project & Portfolio Leadership:
    • Oversee development, execution, and fiscal stewardship of the Nitrogen capital portfolio with Enterprise Capital and Project Management.
    • Ensure projects meet safety, growth, productivity, and sustainability objectives via front-end loading, governance, and disciplined delivery.
    • Recommend/approve spending, manage budgets, and develop the organization’s fiscal capital plan.
  • Strategy, Long-Range Planning & Operational Excellence:
    • Develop and execute technical strategies advancing growth, sustainability, reliability, and cost competitiveness.
    • Align with General Managers and Nitrogen Leadership to ensure standards and capital priorities support business objectives.
    • Lead technology innovation to improve sustainability, environmental performance, and economic resilience.
  • Capability Development & Site Support:
    • Identify and address capability gaps; deploy specialized resources and targeted programs to uplift site performance.
    • Provide “boots-on-the-ground” technical support where expertise or urgency requires enterprise intervention.
    • Ensure support services deliver clear value, transparency, and measurable impact.
  • Clear Decision-Making & Operating Model Discipline:
    • Establish a clear framework for decision rights, escalation paths, and site engagement dynamics.
    • Define evaluation and resolution processes for differing technical opinions using risk-based reasoning and cost/benefit trade-offs.
    • Ensure Technical Services professionals are effective influencers, collaborators, and enterprise leaders.

What You'll Bring:

  • Engineering Degree is preferred with extensive experience in Engineering or Site Supervision execution.
  • Extensive project management experience and experience with capital management and approvals.
  • Familiarity with National and International Codes (ABS, API, IMO, RAGAGEP, etc) and Standards and Classification Society Rules, as well as working knowledge of standard commercial and fabrication materials, procedures, and capabilities.
  • Exceptional business acumen with the ability to make sound decisions in collaboration with key stakeholder groups.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Significant success in one-or-more other businesses by driving change and innovation, resulting in superior results.
  • Progressive senior leadership experience working as a multi-site, multi-operations leader, within a global, public company.
  • Sustained experience in strategic oversight and governance across complex organizational environments.
