What You'll Do:
The ideal candidate for this role will be able to read, understand, and apply operating procedures, work independently with minimal supervision as a self‑starter, demonstrate strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills, and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
• Regularly engage in personal and co-worker health and safety to ensure we all go home safe, every day
• Monitor and operate equipment and associated systems within standard operating conditions and limits
• Operate and monitor process equipment which can include; starting and stopping pumps, compressors and engines, opening and closing of valves ranging in dimensions of ¼” to 18”, and adjusting pneumatic and electrical controls
• Operate computerized control systems
• Regularly participate in the site progression system to learn the plant processes
• Operate mobile equipment; forklift, front end loader, aerial lifts
• Record and enter data readings from plant equipment and process
• Respond to and appropriately addresses process upsets
• Ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operations of plant process equipment
• Identify possible or current operating problems and recommend action to resolve any deficiencies in rate, quality, or mechanical operation
• Identify actual or potential maintenance problems and take appropriate action to recognize that they are addressed
• Work 12 hour rotating shift schedule, days and nights with the ability to work extended hours, overtime and holidays when required
What You'll Bring:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid ABSA 3rd Class Power Engineer (2nd Class preferred)
• 3+ years of experience in plant operations in a chemical plant or similar industrial setting
• Hold a valid driver’s license
• Ability to operate mobile equipment (forklift, front end loader, aerial lifts)
• Proficiency with computer applications including MS Office Suite and SAP
