What You'll Do:
- Support safe, reliable, efficient, and innovative solutions to rail operations as a collaborative link within Nutrien’s supply chain
- Coordinate safe and efficient midstream network rail operations including but not limited to diversions, rebills, transloads, overload reductions, and product claim handling
- Provide prompt and reliable customer service including exception handling, pipeline reporting, ETA information, carload expedition, and advocation for enhanced first mile / last mile railway service
- Navigate rail embargoes including applying and expediting permits; scoping routes and destinations; and processing waybills
- Monitor and report performance data including cycle times, bad order rates, loading rates, dwell reports, shop performance, shipping plans, and fleet profiles to inform fleet planning functions
- Implement maintenance, scrap, and lease return plans efficiently, safely, and cost effectively on fleet of ~5,000 railcars; monitoring/reserving shop capacity, submitting waybills/diversions, and expediting movement
- Assist Nutrien Rail Fleet team to arrange Mobile Repair Units for offsite repairs, collaborating with Sales, Product Management, customers, and contractors
- Utilize tracking systems, processes, and tools to monitor requalification progress, shop performance, and other ongoing fleet maintenance and/or sizing operations
- Report on demurrage activities and compile data to review, process, and/or dispute
- Provide responsible cost stewardship while reviewing invoices for freight and fleet management activities
- Responsible for data entry to support the onboarding and maintenance of railcars
- Responsible for handling problems and taking corrective action with rail carriers as required
- Compile and distribute key metrics and reports
What You'll Bring:
- 2 years of relatable experience
- Rail operations and/or mechanical experience an asset
- Experience with rail transportation systems, regulations, and industry practices will be an asset
- University degree in Operations Management preferred or equivalent considered an asset
- Professional designation in the logistics and supply chain field would be considered an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to think strategically, with attention to detail, and a continuous improvement mindset
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strength in excel (pivot tables, graphs, charts)
- Proactive and service orientated approach and ability to work collaboratively and influence stakeholders to add value to the business
- Data driven approach to problem solving with the ability to engage and act on complex challenges as well as changing priorities
