This position will report directly to the Mine Operations Superintendent.
What You'll Do:
- Responsible for managing the activities of the Mine Production Department in a safe manner, to achieve production goals, within approved budgets, company guidelines and legal requirements.
- Provide safety leadership by setting the example and ensure compliance with all safety and workplace rules.
- Ensure timely completion of incident reports and remedial actions from the department.
- Provide guidance and coaching to maintenance supervisors and crew members to build capacity in their roles, while upholding all company policies and legal requirements.
- Problem-solve effectively to make complex decisions and to accomplish goals and objectives.
- Utilize and assist in the development of key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in the prioritization and assignment of work orders and coordinate major jobs through contact with operations personnel, to optimize availability of equipment.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the work order management process.
- Demonstrate active listening skills to resolve concerns, conflicts and encourage team building.
- Participate as part of the team by maintaining frequent communication with other departments to ensure site needs are met.
- Utilize a thorough understanding of the collective bargaining agreement to collaborate with the local union members and executive to resolve labor relations issues.
- Be available during off-hours, in case of emergency.
What You'll Bring:
- 5 or more years’ experience in planning in an industrial environment, with direct supervisory experience.
- A strong commitment to safety with knowledge of OH&S, mine safety and environmental regulations and the ability to ensure compliance with such regulations.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to build capacity in your team by creating a supportive, collaborative, and engaging work environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Desire to continue expanding knowledge on best practices.
- Change leader for new ideas.
- Computer proficiency.
