Reporting to the Sr. Mine Engineer, this position will be responsible for conducting surveys in the mine as well as subsidence, product inventory and special surveys as required.  This is a temporary role for approximately 12 months. 

 

What you will do:

 

  • Survey using a total station to establish points for mine layouts and special projects
  • Generate maps and CAD drawings
  • Monitor mine gases with ventilation equipment and preform ventilation surveys
  • Layout beltlines and infrastructure underground
  • Collect elevation surveys
  • Maintain and repair survey and laser equipment

 

What you will bring:

  • A Mining, Geomatics or Civil Engineering Technology diploma from a recognized technological institution or applicable practical experience
  • 2 years surveying experience, preferably in an underground environment (preferred)
  • Experience working with MS office, SAP, AutoCAD and mine design/planning software is desired
  • Able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Previous knowledge and application of general survey calculations (point in direction, bearing-bearing intersection, inverse, point-to-line inverse, resection, rotation, translation) are an asset
  • Basic knowledge of survey calculation software such as TDS Cogo is an asset
  • A strong commitment to safety with working knowledge of OH&S, Mine and Environmental regulations
  • Ability to handle a large and varied workload
