Reporting to the Director of Nutrien Financial Finance & Accounting, this position is responsible for leading the accounting, reporting and financial planning team for the Nutrien Financial (“NF”) business segment.  The Finance & Accounting Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing end‑to‑end financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and driving business insights through planning and analysis. This role manages a wide range of responsibilities including general ledger accounting, monthly close, external reporting support, budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis, and ongoing process improvements. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, brings strong technical expertise, and can effectively partner across accounting, finance, and business operations.

 

 

 

What You'll Do:

  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes for Nutrien Financial to ensure timely and accurate financial results.
  • Manage general ledger accounting, journal entry review, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS and internal accounting policies.
  • Lead operational excellence initiatives to strengthen controls, streamline workflows, and enhance reporting accuracy.
  • Review the preparation of internal financial statements and management reporting packages and prepare additional ad‑hoc reporting as needed.
  • Support external reporting requirements including audit requests, footnote schedules, and supplemental analysis.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Accounting and External Reporting teams to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Serve as a key liaison during internal and external audits.
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and multi‑year financial plans.
  • Analyze business performance, trends, and KPIs to provide insights and decision‑making support to leadership.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to understand operational drivers and financial impacts.
  • Develop dashboards, models, and reporting tools to improve financial visibility and accountability.
  • Manage monthly management reporting, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and variance commentary.
  • Work closely with business leaders to understand results, provide financial guidance, and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Deliver clear, concise financial insights to senior management and cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop a high‑performing team of accountants and analysts.
  • Provide coaching, training, and professional development to support team growth.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Participate in various projects as requested.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting or finance.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Minimum eight years of relevant business experience with people leadership.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and IFRS.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) with a focus on advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong experience with Power BI is preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks with competing deadlines and display a sense of urgency around month-end deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to new processes and system solutions to best support our growing business segment.
  • Mature attitude and ability to deal effectively in a team environment and exhibit strong business ethics.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (written, oral and listening).

 

Compensation & Benefits: 

The salary range for this role, in Chicago, IL, is between $100,400 - $172,000. While we provide this range as general guidance, several factors are taken into consideration when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, candidate skill set, experience and training, licensure and certifications, work location, and other business and organizational needs. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our program(s) where discretionary pay out of awards is reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.  Details will be discussed through the application process.
