Reporting to the Chief Economist & Heard of Market Research, the Market Research Manager will focus on analyzing the key drivers and forecasting crop input demand in key geographies. This role will be responsible for gathering and disseminating agricultural market research for the Americas and combining Nutrien’s market leading in-market agriculture and crop input intelligence with fundamental analysis to develop short, medium and long-term forecasts.
What you will do:
- Track and predict short to long-term trends driving the future direction of the agriculture industry to support financial forecasts and corporate strategy.
- Track key industry fundamentals and build models to estimate and predict crop input expenditure in key geographies, working with Nutrien’s leading downstream Ag Solutions business to gather and aggregate market intelligence, identify and analyze emerging agricultural market trends.
- Analyze and project key crop supply and demand balances and crop acreage to be used as a basis for crop input expenditure projections.
- Work with Retail Financial Planning and Analysis group to support financial forecasts based on underlying fundamentals in key geographies.
- Track agricultural policy developments in key markets and project the impact on grower profitability, sentiment and crop input demand.
- Support the development of presentation materials for Nutrien stakeholders, customers, suppliers and investors and present analysis when applicable.
What you will bring:
- Undergraduate/graduate degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Business or Ag Business is required.
- 3-5 years of experience in economics or market research is required.
- Experience analyzing agricultural commodities, crop input and/or other commodity markets.
- Effective written and oral communications skills.
- Strong analytical skills; experience with quantitative analysis and data management would be an asset.
- Agricultural industry knowledge and/or experience would be advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Self-starter and independent, ability to think critically and creatively.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range $91,200-$177,800 annually. This range is estimated for the Sr Analyst, Market Research role in Chicago, Illinois. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan and long-term incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our program(s) where discretionary pay out of awards is reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.
