We efficiently serve growers' needs and strive to provide a more profitable, sustainable, and secure future for all stakeholders.  Help us raise the expectation of what an agriculture company can be and grow your career with Nutrien.

We are looking for an experienced, technically strong Disaster Recovery Program Lead to own and mature our enterprise Disaster Recovery strategy, framework, and execution model. You will establish and govern the Disaster Recovery program across the organization, including standards, templates, testing frameworks, measurement, reporting, and continuous improvement.

This is a technical leadership role (individual contributor, no direct reports). The ideal candidate excels at influencing technical and business stakeholders to align Disaster Recovery readiness to our risk posture, operational expectations, and executive priorities.

This role does not manage Backup Services — backups are just one of many tools in the Disaster Recovery toolbox. The Disaster Recovery Program Lead ensures that recovery capabilities, processes, and decision making extend far beyond backup technology alone.

What You'll Do:

Disaster Recovery Strategy, Framework & Governance

  • Define, maintain, and continuously improve the enterprise Disaster Recovery framework, standards, and policies
  • Establish governance models, compliance expectations, and Disaster Recovery accountability across application, infrastructure, and business teams
  • Build and maintain Disaster Recovery templates, playbooks, runbooks, and repeatable processes that scale across both cloud and on-prem workloads
  • Ensure DR practices align with enterprise availability objectives, risk tolerances, compliance standards, and audit requirements

Program Ownership & Execution

  • Lead a cross functional, multi-team Disaster Recovery program, ensuring enterprise-wide alignment of recovery objectives (RPO/RTO) and testing cadence
  • Develop and govern Disaster Recovery testing strategies, including tabletop exercises, functional failovers, full scale Disaster Recovery tests, and cloud-native recovery patterns
  • Drive enterprise adoption of Disaster Recovery requirements and standards through stakeholder engagement, enablement (guidance and training), and change management; partner with teams to close gaps and meet compliance expectations
  • Measure Disaster Recovery readiness and maturity across teams; deliver meaningful metrics, dashboards, and executive reports

Technical Leadership & Influence

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all aspects of Disaster Recovery, business system resiliency, and recovery tooling
  • Guide application and service owners through scenario planning, recovery architecture decisions, and prioritization of gaps and remediations
  • Evaluate multiple technical options for recovery and recommend the most resilient and cost-effective approach, including backup, replication, automation, cloud-native recovery patterns, and platform services
  • Partner closely with infrastructure, cloud, security, and business continuity teams to ensure alignment across organizational boundaries

Continuous Improvement & Modernization

  • Drive adoption of modern Disaster Recovery approaches for hybrid cloud, multi-region architectures, and containerized or distributed applications
  • Identify operational gaps, systemic risks, and opportunities to leverage automation and orchestration for faster recovery
  • Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge of Disaster Recovery best practices, cloud resiliency strategies, and evolving threat landscapes
  • Act as a trusted advisor who challenges the status quo and raises the organizational bar for resilience

What You'll Bring:

Required Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of hands-on experience in Disaster Recovery, infrastructure resiliency, cloud architecture, or related areas
  • Proven experience designing, governing, or leading Disaster Recovery programs for complex, hybrid enterprise environments
  • Strong technical background in data center infrastructure, cloud services (AWS/Azure), networking, compute, storage, and application dependencies
  • Experience building Disaster Recovery frameworks, standards, templates, exercises, and measurement dashboards
  • Strong understanding of RTO/RPO planning, dependency mapping, recovery prioritization, and system criticality classification
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority across technology, operations, and business teams
  • Excellent communication skills, with confidence presenting to both technical teams and senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud-native Disaster Recovery patterns (e.g., cross-region failover, managed replication, IaC-driven recovery)
  • Experience coordinating Disaster Recovery activities across regulated, mission-critical, or multi-site industrial environments
  • Familiarity with Business Continuity Planning (BCP) concepts
  • Certifications such as ITIL, CBCP, AWS or Azure architecture certifications, or similar resiliency-related credentials

Key Competencies

  • Strong leadership presence without formal authority
  • Systems thinker with the ability to break down complex environments
  • Highly organized, structured, and disciplined in execution
  • Confident facilitating workshops, tests, and post-mortems
  • Persistent, resilient, and able to hold teams accountable to enterprise expectations

Why This Role Matters

Resiliency has never been more critical. In this role, you will establish the foundation that ensures our business can continue operating through outages, incidents, and unexpected disruptions. You will shape a Disaster Recovery program that is modern, measurable, repeatable, and trusted—safeguarding our enterprise systems and the customers and operations they support.
