Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Government & Industry Affairs, the Government & Industry Affairs Manager is responsible for advancing Nutrien's public policy objectives and protecting the Company's business interests through strategic engagement with government, industry, and regulatory stakeholders. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the role develops and maintains relationships with policymakers and key influencers in Washington, D.C., while monitoring, analyzing, and responding to legislative and regulatory developments that impact Nutrien's business, reputation, and performance.

 

The position leads advocacy efforts, supports internal policy development and alignment, provides strategic issue analysis, and helps shape and execute government and industry affairs strategies to achieve business objectives. This position requires a proactive individual able to work independently with Members of Congress, top government officials, and the company's senior leadership.

What You'll Do:

 

  • Support, develop and execute on a multifaceted Government and Industry Affairs Strategy within the United States Federal government, under leadership of the Sr. Director, Global Government & Industry Affairs (Washington, DC)
  • Lead government relations and lobbying efforts on issues including transportation, tax, broadband, biofuels, and other issues
  • Interact daily with senior government leadership/officials and represent Nutrien before a wide range of stakeholders
  • Represent Nutrien on various trade associations, serving on industry committees or boards as required, and work closely with Nutrien’s customers and other partners in a fast paced, demanding environment
  • Manage lobbying within portfolio of legislative and executive branch officials across the spectrum of leadership, from staff to Members of Congress, Agency Heads, and Department Secretaries
  • Work closely with all corporate functions and Business Units to meet government relations requirements, and serving in an executional and advisory role as required
  • Work across Nutrien’s diverse business portfolio to help develop corporate positioning and advocacy strategies to meet Nutrien’s public policy and business objectives

What You'll Bring:

 

  • Minimum 8 years of experience developing and leading government affairs, public policy, and stakeholder engagement strategies within the energy, agriculture, fertilizer, or related sectors
  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, Business, Agriculture, Law, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience dealing with policy-making processes, whether on Capitol Hill, in the executive branch, or within similar trade associations
  • Demonstrated success building and maintaining effective relationships with elected officials, government agencies, regulators, industry associations, and other key external stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of the legislative, regulatory, and political processes and their impact on the energy, agriculture, and petrochemical industries at the state, federal, and international levels
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, and respond effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues to diverse audiences and influence decision-making
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and drive outcomes with a high degree of autonomy
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and initernationally as required to support stakeholder engagement, advocacy activities, and business objectives. (approximatly 10-20%)

Compensation & Benefits: 

 

The salary range for this role, Washington, DC, is between $115,900 - $182,050. While we provide this range as general guidance, several factors are taken into consideration when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, candidate skill set, experience and training, licensure and certifications, work location, and other business and organizational needs. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

 

We provide an attractive benefits package that includes comprehensive medical, dental, vision coverage, and life insurance and well as disability coverage for positions working more than 30 hours per week. In addition, we have a retirement program that encourages our employees to save for the longer term, with generous matching employer contributions.  Our benefit package also demonstrates our culture of care with paid vacation, sick days and holidays as well as paid personal and maternity/parental leaves and an Employee and Family Assistance Program.  Details of the benefits package will be shared in the application process.   

 

In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our program(s) where discretionary pay out of awards is reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.  Details will be discussed through the application process.
