Early, IA Distribution Terminal opened in 1968 and employs 4 full-time employees.  This Nutrien location stores and distributes anhydrous ammonia, which is moved inbound and outbound by truck. Our team size facilitates a family environment where teamwork is essential.

This position is responsible for maintaining safe and efficient operation of the ammonia terminal area. The role includes handling shipments for both incoming and outgoing product fertilizers, recording data, and making operational corrections as required.

This position includes a 90-day probationary period, during which the employee's suitability for the role will be assessed. 

 

What you will do: 

  • Maintain, operate, and monitor equipment
  • Maintain and operate computerized and non-computerized control systems
  • Perform terminal site preventative maintenance
    • Ammonia compressor, pump, and condenser maintenance
    • Hose testing
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and repair site equipment to ensure site equipment reliability
    • Pump seal replacement
    • Valve repair and replacement
  • Record and enter data readings
  • Measure ammonia product and manage daily inventory
  • Assist and Train drivers to load and unload product onto trucks through pump and piping systems
  • General ground maintenance including mowing, weed eating, and snow removal
  • Assist in contractor assessments and permitting of contractor tasks
  • Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal governmental regulations and standards
  • Entering Data into Computer system, Job Task Evaluations, Process Safety events, update and review Terminal Procedures, Equipment Maintenance Reports, and participation in morning toolbox and various other safety meetings.

 

What you will bring:

  • Minimal experience required – On the job training provided
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Safety mindset
  • Positive attitude
  • Team oriented and reliable
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Possess intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Works with minimal supervision and is self-motivated
  • Willingness to learn with continuous improvement mindset
  • Available for overtime and to be “on-call” to support Terminal during non-typical working hours as required
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally for training courses and/or to assist at other terminals
  • Instrumentation/electrical experience an asset
  • Process Safety Management (PSM), experience an asset
  • Must live within a 25-mile radius from the site
  • Must be capable of wearing and passing respirator fit evaluation
