Discover more about nitrogen at Nutrien! This is an open posting for I&E Engineering students interested in summer internship positions at our Geismar, Louisiana facility.

 

This is a temporary, full-time, hourly paid position open to current students who will be returning to their studies once this work term is complete. This position is not available for remote work.

Work will be both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Outside the office, standard work wear will consist of hard hats, safety boots, safety glasses and ear plugs, with other items as needed; these items will be provided

 

Location: Geismar, Louisiana

Dates/Terms:

  • Summer Internship: May 19, 2025 to August 15, 2025 (Dates can be adjusted base on college schedule)

 

What you will do:

  • Track the implementation of Engineered and SIS projects.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings/packages and convey them to proper field installation. 
  • Ensure quality control and commissioning of new I&E assets to ensure proper installation and function.
  • Develop project estimates for potential new projects.
  • Develop engineering specifications for electrical projects.
  • Work with electricians and contractors on large projects that are in progress at the site.
  • Work will be both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Outside the office, standard work wear will consist of hard hats, safety boots, safety glasses and ear plugs, with other items as needed; these items will be provided.

 

What you will bring:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors’ degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent related program with a graduation date of December 2025 or later. 
  • Completion of Junior or Senior level electrical engineering course work.
  • Prior internship or experience in a chemical plant environment is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills. 
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Must be able to work at heights, outdoors, and around potentially hazardous chemicals.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
