Supervisor, Technical Training
The Technical Training Supervisor leads the site’s training and development strategy, ensuring technical competence, compliance, and continuous growth of the workforce. This role oversees the design, delivery, and evaluation of training programs, supervises the training team, and partners with site leadership to align employee development initiatives with business priorities. A key focus is leveraging digital platforms and AI-enabled learning solutions to modernize content, improve training efficiency, and enhance learning outcome
This position reports to the Manger, Process Engineering and is in Geismar, Louisiana, U.S.A and is not available for remote work.
What you will do:
- Develop and execute a site-wide learning strategy aligned with Nutrien’s corporate initiatives and local operational needs.
- Supervise, coach, and develop the training team, ensuring role clarity, accountability, and professional growth.
- Define 2–5 year learning goals for the site aligned with training needs analysis, balancing technical training, compliance, and professional development.
- Partner with site leadership and corporate L&D to identify critical skill gaps, future workforce needs, and emerging capabilities required for business success.
- Champion a learning culture, promoting continuous development, knowledge sharing, and career progression opportunities.
- Oversee the mapping of training plans for all departments and positions, integrating onboarding, compliance, technical, leadership, and professional development training.
- Ensure training programs meet regulatory requirements, including PSM, SHE, and audit standards.
- Oversee management of the Learning Management System (LMS) and Learning Content Management System (LCMS), ensuring accurate employee training records and curriculum assignments.
- Lead the integration of AI-enabled learning tools (e.g., automated content generation, adaptive assessments, personalized learning pathways, translation/localization tools).
- Ensure Operator Training Simulator (OTS) use is maximized for workforce competency development.
- Maintain evergreen, up-to-date content aligned with site operations, MOCs, RCIs, lessons learned, and corporate standards.
- Ensure training records meet all regulatory and corporate retention requirements through LMS, audits, and reporting.
- Oversee certification and qualification programs for operations and other regulated functions.
- Conduct internal audits of training materials, content, and record-keeping to ensure compliance readiness.
- Partner with HR and site leaders to identify talent development opportunities, succession planning needs, and career pathway requirements.
- Communicate training opportunities, updates, and outcomes to employees and leadership.
- Provide coaching to SMEs, supervisors, and area leaders on instructional design, adult learning principles, and facilitation methods.
- Support employees and leaders in navigating the LMS, training resources, and digital learning tools.

What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Education, HR, Organizational Development, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Certificate or diploma in Adult Learning, Facilitation, or Train-the-Trainer certification in a technical discipline is an asset.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing, chemical process, heavy industry, or energy sector environment.
- 3–5 years’ experience as a certified trainer, assessor, or in a learning & development leadership role.
- Experience in regulated environments with strong compliance, PSM, or SHE requirements.
- Experience with competency-based assessment programs and technical training frameworks.
- Working knowledge of process plant operational principles (Ammonia and Nitrogen-based fertilizer experience is desirable).
- Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (SAP SuccessFactors preferred) and Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS).
- Familiarity with AI-enabled tools for content creation, adaptive learning, and digital learning delivery.
- Strong knowledge of instructional design, curriculum development, adult learning principles, and the full training cycle
- Competency assessment certification and applied experience in technical disciplines preferred.
- Excellent facilitation, coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and systems evaluation skills, with ability to measure training ROI.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data analytics tools.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership, integrity, and continuous improvement.
- Service orientation, social perceptiveness, and the ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
