The TAR/Planned Outage Superintendent is accountable for the oversite, planning and organization of activities related to turnaround work and planned outages. ( MRM) at our Geismar site.  This position participates in the implementation of our Nutrien Turnaround 7 Phase process and is responsible for guiding the team towards successful completion of the TARs while meeting Nutrien’s key deliverables on Safety, Quality, Schedule & Cost.

This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager and would a mix of employees and contractors for direct reports. At the site level this position would have close interactions with the Turnaround Coordinator, Capital Projects, Operations, Maintenance, Maintenance Coordinator, Production Specialists,  and Nutrien ETC Central Groups.

 

What you will do:

  • Determine the turnaround scope of work in consultation with the plant engineers, project engineers, maintenance technicians and Operations
  • Accountable for the preparation and execution for the site’s overall state of preparedness of outages and turnarounds, including facilitating regular review meetings and reporting turnaround preparation progress
  • Develop cost cost-tracking strategy with the site leadership to ensure reporting systems are in place. Developing and submitting of turnaround AFE
  • Participates in process mapping for the plant start-ups, shutdowns, capital projects, and critical path work 
  • Monitor TA staging plan, leading both internal and external resources to complete all staging activities
  • Ensure scope is defined and challenged, support creation of the budget and AFE, responsible for the org structure, ensuring all TA resources are properly trained
  • Ensure all pre-work is completed prior to TA, transition of all resources into their TA execution roles, and ensuring all supporting safety processes are in place and effective

 

What you will bring:

  • Engineering degree, Valid provincial or inter-provincial journeyman trade ticket, or technologist certificate
  • 10 - 15 years and 3 to 5 turnarounds executed
  • A good working knowledge of the OSHA and RAGAGEP
  • Knowledge in the operation and maintenance of Ammonia and Urea, and Nitric Acid production plants
  • Ability to read and understand complex plant drawings (P&ID’s, ISO’s, Underground, etc.)
  • Knowledge of other MS Office systems (Word, Power Point, Project etc.), Primavera and SAP (or comparable CMMS/ERP system)
  • Subject matter expertise in turnaround drivers, processes, challenges, and strategies
