This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

 

What you will do:

 

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing daily maintenance duties to support the production facility.  This includes maintaining material handling/process equipment, buildings, moblie equipment and grounds at the Nutrien New Madrid Plant.  This position is also cross trained with the Process Equipment Operator, Helper position, and needs to be able to perform all activities assigned in the maintenance and production departments.

 

  • Adhere to plant safety program and environmental program administration
  • Ensure proper adherence to safety policies and rules
  • Manage daily maintenance tasks as assigned general and routine plant functions
  • Assist in daily maintenance goals
  • Completion of work orders assigned by Maintenance Supervisor along with completion of requisitions
  • Maintain all mechanical equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment and repair hydraulic systems
  • Assist Maintenance Electrician
  • Conduct frequent housekeeping and safety inspections
  • Fill-in as lead in the Maintenance Supervisor’s absence if asked
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures and systems consistent with safety, quality, cost, and environmental standards
  • Rebuild and repair mechanical equipment such as gearboxes, pumps, rotary feeders, grinding mills, etc
  • Review and participate in accident/injury investigation and corrective action
  • Responsible for welding and oxygen/acetylene use
  • Fabrication of parts
  • Bearing/Seal replacement and alignment
  • Coordinate maintenance work with production schedule
  • On-call for plant break downs and emergencies
  • Identify and inform Management of ANY food quality or safety issue
  • Operate the process to optimize the production of quality and safe product in accordance with standard operation procedures and following Current Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Perform production/quality checks as assigned
  • Perform housekeeping/sanitation functions as required
  • Detect potential problems with raw materials, processes, etc. that could affect food quality and safety and notify management of such issues
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence or further processing of nonconforming product relating to food quality and safety until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
  • Maintaining the required written records including production, recycle, disposition of product, corrective actions, etc. as mandated by the Animal Food Quality and Safety Management System
  • Responsible for following all facility safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Must have knowledge of OSHA regulations, along with the Animal Food and Quality and Safety Policy, Animal Food Safety Awareness and FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) regulations
  • Actively participates in site requisitioning, work order and MOC systems
  • Actively participates in site safety processes

 

What you will bring:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Industrial Maintenance role
  • Welding Experience Required/ Welding Certificate preferred
