Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Upstream Potash & Phosphate Operations, this position is responsible for strategic planning, management, and leadership of safe, reliable and efficient operations of our Lanigan mine, one of our 6 Saskatchewan Potash locations. Note that Company housing is available for this role.

The General Manager, in collaboration with the Upstream Potash Leadership Team, shapes the structure of all business operations and related activities at the Lanigan site. This includes, but is not limited to, enhancing and ensuring safe operational practices above all else, efficient use of cash for capital and operations, efficient operations with a continuous improvement culture, enhancing site culture to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all employees, representing Nutrien at local levels with communities and government, assessing priorities to allocating resources and addressing sustaining capital and investment requirements to ensure long term planning is in place.
 This role will be posted until May 4th, 2026.
What You'll Do:

- Serve as a key member of the Upstream Potash Leadership Team, which sets strategic direction and formulates both long and short-range plans, policies, programs, and objectives
- Establish the performance standards and organizational culture for the site
- Implement and sustain behavioral-based safety programs in partnership with our Safety, Health, Environment & Security (SHE&S) team; maintain safety standards and organizational climate conducive to safe work performance
- Foster a collaborative relationship with Union leaders involving constructive dialogue
- Develop, plan, and allocate resources to sustain sound community and governmental relations to foster a positive local public image for the company
- Develop and implement strategic plans to produce product mix and quantities to meet sales requirements within established specifications
- Ensure that all environmental regulatory obligations are met; allocate resources; submit capital projects requests, etc. to achieve environmental stewardship objectives
- Select, develop, motivate, and recognize staff capable of obtaining maximum results in assigned areas, and provide a continuum of technical and managerial talent for the future
- Direct maintenance and engineering efforts to attain optimum reliability and efficiency for production
- Develop and recommend production strategies, together with capital and operating budget requirements to optimize short and long-range production capabilities, while minimizing exposure to economic and environmental risks
- Direct technical efforts to identify potential process and reliability improvements; justify potential projects through cost analysis (ROI) and request capital resources
- Identify risks to the business and initiate corrective actions to eliminate or minimize risk
- Meet with key staff to ensure a coordinated management effort in the development and execution of the operation’s long-range objectives in the areas of facilities and production planning, materials procurement coordination, and human resource allocation

- Keep continuous improvement at the forefront of the management team’s focus and ensure initiatives remain on track
- Ensure the implementation of manufacturing technologies and control systems, which will improve productivity and product quality, enhance schedule and cost effectiveness, and contribute to Nutrien’s overall profitability
- Formulate and recommend an operating budget to management and upon approval, monitor deviations and initiate corrective action to control costs
- Keep the Senior Vice-President, Upstream Potash & Phosphate Operations, informed about significant issues and developments around safety, reliability, budget, capital spend targets, which might influence the achievement of overall growth and profit objectives
- Develop and maintain goodwill within the community by building strong relationships through engagement and transparency
- Promote employee participation in activities and charitable causes within the community, and oversee philanthropic support through community investment
What You'll Bring:

- Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field (Mechanical, Chemical, Mine, Geological) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Master of Business Administration (MBA), considered an asset
- Minimum of 15 years’ milling and mining experience required
- Experience leading a large team in a heavy industrial environment
- Experience in project execution
- Superior logical and problem-solving skills
- Capacity to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities
- Strong leader, motivator, coach, communicator and team player
