Mine Mechanical Supervisor - (Lanigan, Saskatchewan, Canada)

 

The Mechanical Supervisor will report to the Mine Maintenance General Foreman.

 

This position is located in Lanigan, Saskatchewan, Canada and is not available for remote work.

 

What you will do:

  • Be responsible for the supervision of a maintenance crew; oversee the safe and efficient maintenance of underground mechanical equipment
  • Evaluate problems and assign priorities when evaluating equipment status 
  • Organize and schedule work within the PM system, and manage emergency breakdowns as they occur
  • Approve completed work before equipment is released to production, ensuring acceptable standards are maintained
  • Be responsible for assessing requirements, ordering parts, utilizing equipment manuals, and forecasting repairs for the wide variety of equipment in use
  • Ensure adequate stocks of spare parts and equipment are available by effectively planning, budgeting, and controlling resources
  • Provide a safe workplace by ensuring all site policies and procedures are stringently adhered to
  • Work with the training department to ensure crew members’ training is completed

 

What you will bring:

  • A Journeyperson Certificate in the mechanical trade, or other relevant mechanical education including a Mechanical Engineering Degree or Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma
  • Training and several years of experience in underground potash operations and the mechanical trade
  • Working knowledge of the operation and repair of all production equipment including face equipment, conveyors, electrical units, mobile equipment, and the hoisting system
  • Saskatchewan Supervisory Certificate from the Saskatchewan Department of Labour, or ability to obtain one
  • Demonstrated positive safety behavior and safety leadership; demonstrated a high level of commitment to creating a safe working environment
  • Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to mentor, guide and correct performance where needed
  • Exceptional interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills are essential
  • Excellent computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Willingness to learn and gain knowledge and experience through training
