Reporting to the Safety Manager, this position is responsible for the effective management of the Safety Department, providing leadership on and directing the overall safety strategy for the site.
What you will do:
- Show commitment, promote, and participate fully in the Nutrien Safety System and Nutrien Corp.'s SHE performance.
- Tabulate and monitor all Safety Standard requirements and provide monthly updates to person(s) responsible.
- Distribute Safety Department communications where applicable.
- Maintain and continually build upon knowledge base for safety in the mining industry.
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with company policies and rules, as well as laws and regulations that apply to this position.
- Assist in incident investigations including TapRoot investigations as required.
- Work closely with Training Department in the development and presentation of safety training materials.
- Promote a good working relationship with Government Departments.
- Incumbent will be proficient in TapRoot system of A/I investigation, ETQ reporting/tracking database and EAM requisitioning and work requests system.
What you will bring:
- Commitment to safety and safety leadership.
- Strong skills in the areas of collaboration, communication, and organization.
- Experience in underground potash operations or industrial plant environment.
- Experience in safety and safety systems is considered a strong asset.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills including public speaking.
- Ability to prioritize work tasks with minimal supervision.
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required, additional safety education or training in a relevant field considered an asset.
