Reporting to the Manager, US Tax, the Analyst, Compliance & Reporting US Tax (“Analyst”) is a critical part of a team responsible for Nutrien’s US tax compliance. The Analyst collects data necessary to meet compliance requirements and works closely with multiple accounting functions to assure tax information is timely and accurately reported.  The Analyst also prepares and maintains the working papers supporting the federal schedule M’s, state apportionment and will be responsible for assisting with certain income tax audits. The Analyst assists with other tax related duties as assigned.

 

What you will do: 

  • Collect data necessary to meet compliance requirements and work closely with multiple accounting functions to ensure tax information is timely and accurately reported.
  • Prepare and maintain the working papers supporting the federal schedule M’s, state apportionment, and state modifications.
  • Respond to tax notices received and assist with other tax related duties as assigned.
  • Work as part of the Nutrien tax team to complete the US tax compliance including:
    • Calculating and processing estimated tax payments and extensions.
    • Collecting and providing Legal with financial information for annual reports.
    • Processing returns through One Source Income Tax.
    • Researching tax questions.
    • Working on tax planning opportunities.
    • Reconciling financial and tax information on the books and records.
    • Completing tax basis balance sheets and rate reconciliations.
  • Analyze complex tax situations with resources available at various levels to ensure proper recording of the tax effect of transactions.
  • Coordinate and help provide information on assigned federal and state income tax audits.
  • Support in implementing process improvements using technology and data management tools.
  • Work closely with the broader Finance & Accounting teams in Loveland, Deerfield, Calgary, and Saskatoon.
  • Build and maintain successful relationships with all US external stakeholders including outside advisors, external auditors, governmental tax auditors, and tax associations.
  • Complete all other job responsibilities as required.

 

What you will bring:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Law from a recognized institution.
  • 3+ years of experience practicing income tax in either a global organization or a larger Tax Consulting Firm supporting Global organizations.
  • Working knowledge of US tax compliance and accounting for income taxes.
  • CPA designation or US Master of Tax Designation preferred.
  • Experience using any of the following computer systems: SAP ECC, Oracle, PeopleSoft, S4 HANA, OneSource Income Tax, Longview, BNA Fixed Assets, Alteryx, Power Query and Power BI.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing environment.
  • Desire to be a critical component of a successful team and to develop and grow professionally.

  • Ability to provide recommendations and advise decision makers on tax matters.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization.

Compensation & Benefits: 

The salary range for this role, in Loveland, CO, is between $79,100 - $135,500. While we provide this range as general guidance, several factors are taken into consideration when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, candidate skill set, experience and training, licensure and certifications, work location, and other business and organizational needs. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our program(s) where discretionary pay out of awards is reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.  Details will be discussed through the application process.
